Question about IOGear GCS632U 2-port KVM Switch

Causing fatal error when not plug into KVM Switch

I have my PC and laptop connected to this switch and it works great except when I remove the laptop I get a fatal blue screen error stating something about IRQ_Less_or_Equal and then it dumps physical memory. This happens when I just remove the laptop or if I shut it down remove it and boot. My IT Dept. thought it had to be a problem with my laptop so they replaced it. I came home yesterday and plugged it into the KVM and worked all day. This morning I shutdown and took my laptop into the office. I booted and bingo, the same blue screen error on the new laptop. If I reconnect to the switch and reboot everything works fine. My laptop is basically useless unless it is connected to this switch. Please help.

I have a Trendnet TK-209 KVM switch. My keyboard and mouse (MS wireless) that worked well for a year stopped working through the switch. they work well if connected directly to each computer.

I can confirm the same problem happened with me just now. I have TrendNet USB/KVM TK-207 and was flawlessly working with Logitech K260 Wireless Mouse and Keyboard Combo, but today on both computers all I can see is the error:

.
USB Device not recognized - The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it.

I unplugged the usb wireless adapter and connected it directly to the PC - it worked like a charm again. I have tried to connect the wireless adapter to the mouse port hoping that the keyboard USB port is causing problems, but all I got was the same error. I have tried to conect a normal USB keyboard, but again the same error I get for both - the mouse and keyboard, so it is more than obvious now that the USB ports of my KVN Switch are malfunctioning. I will try to leave it for a while if it got hot somehow as it was connected for more than 6 months working perfectly fine, but if not, I am heading to the store for support/replacement.

I just buy a new computer and go to hook up my KVM switch that I was previously using and was working flawlessly. All cables are connected (KVM PS2) except the KVM video cable to computer # 2. So I'm...

I would look first at rep;lacing the cable itself, KVM's usually last a very long time. Cables can break down after awhile. The easiest way to check is to try the other cable on the new machine., or a pin could be bent on the cable.
I would look at those two things first before the KVM. IT is possible that the KVM may not support the new machine, depending on how old it is.

IOgear KVM not working with laptop

First, you have to make sure that the KVM switch is directly connected to your laptop, and NOT to a docking station.

This KVM switch is designed to work with direct connections to the computers.

Second, the light indicator on the KVM switch is not an indicator for power. It's an indicator to see which port is active. If your laptop is connected to port 2, but the focus of the KVM is in port 1, then the port 1 will have a light, not the port 2.

You may also refer to the user manual of the KVM.

Thank you!

Keybrd quits working on laptop after ctl-alt_del to reach login

Repeating keys? This is a common problem for KVM switches if you go beyond the devices' capability. As you can see, GCS62 is a PS/2 KVM switch and it was designed to work only using a regular PS/2 keyboard.

This KVM switch does not support PS/2 to USB adapter. It might work but it's not guaranteed to work correctly. This does not work properly if you have a docking station for the laptop. It might work for couple of months then it would stop.

You smay isolate the problem by following the steps below:

1. Connect the keyboard directly to the computer to see if you will get the same problem.

2. Power cycle the KVM switch by disconnecting it from the computers and leave it unplugged for a minute or two.

3. Avoid using hybrid connection (PS/2 converted to USB) only for testing purposes.

4. If that work, then you know the answer is that this KVM only designed an work correctly with native PS/2 connection.

Components not recognised automatically with Belkin Switch2

This is not quite a solution, but a workaround. Take a USB cable extender and intercept the 5V supply wire in it (normally red) with a push to break switch. When you have powered up the PC, push the switch and the KVM will then work (same as your unplugging but much easier to do ). Switch bought on Ebay for 0.99GBP. Belkin tried to insist that I had my laptop plugged in and working if I wanted to use my desktop.

KVM switch mouse trouble

Does a mouse work if plugged directly into the laptop? Sometimes you have to change a laptop in the BIOS to allow a PS2 mouse in addition or instead of the touchpad. It may not be recognizing the KVM as a mouse. Try plugging the mouse right into the laptop and see if that works.
