Question about Onkyo HT-S570S Silver Home Theater System REFURBISHED System

Open Question

LED power indicator is off

My brother's little boy dropped a quarter into the sub-woofer ( SKW-320X ) and it has fallen on the circuit board. I removed the quarter from the circuit board but then the soubwoofer stopped working. LED is always off. I opened it and checked the power and there is no power from transformer to the circuit. Is there a fuse or something ? Any help is appreciated on what could go wrong ? Can I replace the transformer myself ?

SOURCE: Onkyo subwoofer not working

I fixed my subwoofer. The resistor at R16 (right next to the fuse) was the fried component. I removed it and replaced it with a 13K ohm 5 watt metal oxide resistor (from Mouser Electronics if not available locally). Works fine now. I got the solution and the circuit schematic from an audio hobbiest at This is, evidently, a fairly common problem.

SOURCE: Onkyo sub woofer

You will only blow fuses and resistors if there is a short of some kind you can change fuses, resistors and capacitors all you like if you don't find the short they will just keep on blowing. It maybe something as small as a bit of conductive material or fluff or dust on chip board wipe board down make sure it is clean (a clean toothbrush is perfect) and there are no signs of burns on either side of the chipboard befor you change anything. If there are burns or greenish build up clean them with some metho or water on a cloth not to damp though and make sure Burn or corrossion hasn't taken off the protective layer on the board.
Then try new fuses. Hope this helps you

Aperion bravus 10d subwoofer no sound

The amp inside the sub has failed. Basically a sub is a mono power amp with a speaker. Though it seems to be getting power it could be that the main semiconductor that does all the work has gone open circuit. If it went short-circuit it would have killed the fuse and power.

It's possible that you have accidentally switched off the sub-woofer outputs on the receivers. Onkyo have a speaker set up test. You should run that and see if the speakers are on and that a signal is getting through to them.

sub woofers are very powerful bass , with incredible sounding technology. your problem might be with the woofer wall around the circle. open the box and take the woofer out.Check if there is any tare over the corners of the cloth. sometimes there might be a crazy noise because of a little opening in the cloth caused by small tare.. if so better change it with a new 1 and make sure that the new cloth has guaranty

How to connect speakers to the sub-woofer and my iMac.

i believe that plug is special because it feeds not only audio signal but also voltage to power the speakers. so unless u know that the speakers will get power from the plug, it will probably not work

Subwoofer issues

The fuse blows when the current that passes through it are beyond its rating. This could be brought about by excessive consumption of the load, in this case the amplifier powering the sub-woofer.

Repairs would involve component level and require that you be familiar with electronic components and circuitry, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. Often it is just the finals that needs to be replaced. Of course we cannot discount the possibility of other components or section such as the power supply.

The smoke indicates something heating up such as a resistor or diode or a capacitor.

Should you be uncomfortable opening the unit and doing a DIY (do-it-yourself), then perhaps you need to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Should the downtime and cost of repair be no longer economically reasonable, purchase of a new unit might save you further trouble.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
