Question about Philips Magnavox 27MS343S 27" TV

2 Answers

Don't know whether our set is analogue or digital.

It is a 27" model, and was assembled in July 1988 in TN. From the label sticker on the back of the unit we find:

Model # :RJ5552 CH02
Serial #: 60937148
Chassis: 27H1 - 01

Thanks, Fred

This TV is analog tv ... If you want to covert to digital you should buy a digital-to-analog converter box, this allow you to continue using your existing analog TV to watch over-the-air digital broadcasts....

Good luck...

Is a converter required in order to receive over the air?

Not normally on a CRT televisions which is already analogue as is the over air signal. Your antennae should come with a small connection box and then you connect a fly lead to the ***** in aerial socket on the back of the television.

Have a read of this.

How do i set a universal remote to a sansui tv

Hi,

Firstly, you need to let me know the brand and EXACT model number of your universal remote control. This will usually be at the bottom of the remote on the keypad side, on a sticker on the back or sometimes inside the battery compartment.

Please post back with the above information and I will provide codes and programming instructions for your remote. Please note, there is no guarantee that your remote will work with your TV - especially if the remote is older than the TV.

Nobody can help you unless you specify the brand and model number!

Thanks.

Digital tuner or not?

Yes in July I do not recall the date you will need the digital tuner for this TV, A rule of thumb look at the manufacture date on the back of the set if its earlier then 2007 you need a digital converter. There are two types of digital QAM signals one is called TRUE QAM and the other is STANDARD QAM the old standard was foe things like DVD's and the like and not OTA "over the air" I hope thisdoes help but you do got a good TV there but if you buy a converter you be gald you did!!!

Please do not shoot the messanger and rate a good rateing as we do not get PAID to answer these free questions :)

I'm confused about HD (high definition) and digital

In Australia analogue TV signals will be phased out and finished by the end of 2009 (I think).
If you have a standard analogue TV you won't be able to receive any more free to air analogue TV programs when they stop brocasting these TV signals. To recieve the new digital signals you need to buy a digital set top box (which receives digital TV signals and converts it to analogue signal that can be displayed on your old TV). The set top box will only receive Standard Definition signals and this is a lower screen resolution that is available from High Definition signals.

Digital TV signals offer approx. 15 TV channels ln High definition and Standard Definition, different programs channels will be available from the same TV broadcaster, although the High Definition pograms will also be repeated on one of the Standard Definition channels.

High Definition gives a sharper image than Standard dedinition, but you may not notice much difference because it depends much on the material you are viewing, You will notice how clear DVD and BlueRay movies are compared with the VCR tapes. To get the best images from DVD movies your player must be connected to the HDMI connector on your High Definition TV (provided your DVD player has one, usually BlueRay players will have one, they also will play normal DVD disks).

If you purchase a new High Definition TV you will also be able to receive all the Digital TV programs. Currrently these TVs are avail in Plasma or LCD screens and there are newer technologies within a few years. The Plasma screens use twice as much energy (electricity) as a LCD screen. It is suggested that the viewing distance to the TV should be 3.5 times the size of the TV screen.

Hope this answers your query.
Get back to me if you have any more questions.

I don't know if my sony trinitron kv-2742 27" tv needs a box

Given the history of the aquirement, I checked the model number and there is no reference to be able to receive digital. You can buy a convertor box anytime they are available to use on the set. There is no deadline to hook it up.

Needs to have the regulator circuit rebuilt... I think for that unit it's p/n 231523 but ask the dustributor to check that before ordering, every suffix version has different kit numbers. Just give the order desk the FULL model number of your Tv..

I SIMPLY PACKED UP THE TELEVISION BACK IN THE BOX AND I AM GOING TO RETURN IT TO THE PLACE WHERE I BOUGHT IT. FURTHERMORE, I DON'T BELIEVE I SHOULD HAVE TO GET A PLAN OR PAY ANYONE TO ASK A SIMPLE QUESTION, WHICH IS ALL I HAD. IT WAS ANSWERED BY SOMEONE AT SANYO FINALLY AFTER TWO DAYS OF CALLING AND SINCE I GOT MY ANSWER, THE SET GOES BACK BUT THANKS ANYWAY.
