I have the same problem. My Dyson DC14 turns on but only stays on if you hold down the power button.

Great suggestion - worked for me too! Just curious - did anyone ever need to ultimately replace the switch?

I just had this same problem tonight. As I was looking on this sight to find a solution, my husband fixed it. First he removed the extended handle part, then he took the 2 screws out behind the power switch and removed the front cover (directly underneath the power button). He then removed the plastic power switch cover and took the power leads off the switch and removed the switch and tapped on it, then the little button stuck in place:) Sounds silly but it worked! Good luck!

I had the same issue and was planning to take it to the repair shop. Read your review and it took my husband 10 min to have it up and running again. Thanks much. I have the DC19 Animal

Motor running good but the water isn't coming out of either the bottom or the hand held tool

make sure your recovery tank is pushed down snug, somtimes it just need to prime itself,I had the same problem with my hand held tool, and that seemed to do the trick, after it pushed down, turn on power then wait about 10 seconds then turn on heater. I hoped this helped.

My power button has to be held down while I'm vacuuming. How do I fix that?

Get a new switch. There's nothing more you can do other than replacing the on/off switch
