Washer door will not open

I have the same problem as the one described below by Artweavaly. As suggested by catriver's response (second paragraph below), I went into test mode and did a self diag. After a short tumble, the humming sound came back and the SC code appeared in the display. The sound goes down in intensity with time and eventually goes away. I got a weak burning smell, pressed the spin speed button and got to PA. The door is still locked. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ivanuyo. The washer was halfway through the wash cycle, and stopped; possibly overloaded. I can change the controls to any load or configuration I wish, but the washer just makes a quiet humming sound and does not progress (the timer doesn't count down). The "locked" indicator will not shut off (or let me into the washer), regardless of what I do: change cycles, shut off the machine, or unplug it. Best Solutionposted on Oct 02, 2006 By catriver Rank: Guru Rating: 88.43%, 235 votes Art, it's possible something is jammed in the pump causing your problem. See if you can put it into a service mode. Power off and on and press chime and xtra rinse together for 3 seconds. Now to do a quick service cycle press temp and soil level together. The washer should take off and do a self diag. It will run the water valves, tumble, dispenser, drain and high spin if you entered it right. If everything passes you will get a PA in the display. If not you will get the error code. You can advance through this test by pressing the spin speed button. If any error codes come up post back and we will try to get to the bottom of it. back.

Re: washer door will not open

Iv, did you check the pump to see if it's jammed? The SC indicates there is a failure in the washer. While you are in the service mode, press the rinse and spin button while rotating the cyle select knob one click. A d should show in the display. Rotating the knob again will show the latest error code. When you get the code post back or e-mail me at and I will try to get to the bottom of it...Catriver.

Hello - From what you have described the washer may possibly have a communication problem with the control board, defective cord/wiring, and faulty door lock assembly. Try resetting the unit by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and turn on the washer and select a normal cycle. If the washer continues with the same issue then I would suggest contacting a professional to accurately diagnose the unit.

My cabrio wtw6200sw2 has F50 code and won't spin I can't seem to find out what the code means. Could it be the motor coupler or controller board?

The F50 code for the Whirlpool Cabrio is most commonly a Motor Control Board failure.

Motor Stalled
F then 50 flashes when the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) senses no rotation.
? Does basket turn freely? If not, make sure bottom shipping pack has been removed. Determine cause of friction.
? If basket turns freely, see TEST #3, page 4 of the Diagnostics and Repair manual.

The Diagnostics and Repair manual can be downloaded as a PDF document file here:

There are three diagnostic test modes available: Automatic, Manual and Console. These tests allow the factory or service personnel to test and verify all inputs to the machine/motor control. You may want to allow the automatic test cycle to complete prior to going into specific troubleshooting tests.

  1. Be sure the washer is in standby mode (plugged in with all indicators off; or with only the Clothes Clean or Done indicator on).
  2. Select any one button (except POWER, START, STOP and PAUSE/CANCEL) and follow the steps below, using the same button (remember the button):
  • Press/hold 3 seconds.
  • Release for 3 seconds.
  • Press/hold 3 seconds.
  • Release for 3 seconds.
  • Press/hold 3 seconds.
  • If this test mode has been entered successfully, all indicators on the console are illuminated for 5 seconds with 88 showing in the Estimated Time Remaining two-digit display.
  • If indicators do not display as described above, the press/hold/release procedure above may not have been performed within the time frame necessary for successful entry. Repeat step 2 to ensure this was not the cause.
  • If still unsuccessful, see Diagnostic: Unsuccessful Entry.
  1. The program then checks for saved fault codes:
? If there are no saved fault codes, all indicators on the console will momentarily turn off, then
turn back on with 88 displayed. After 5 seconds, the Automatic test, below, begins.

Performs a five-minute automatic test with water functions to check major washer functions (door can be open). Press the same button used in step 2 above to advance through automatic test steps.

NOTE: Basket must be floating in order to agitate.

Kenmore HE2 does not drain after first load.

  1. Unplug the washer to completely disconnect electrical power.
  2. Remove the bottom front service panel.
  3. Carefully reach up through the bottom opening and pull the release tab on the bottom of the door lock assembly until it clicks. NOTE: Internal metal edges in the washer can be sharp. Protective gloves are recommended for this procedure.
By pulling the manual release tab on the door lock assembly, you should be able to get the washer door open. After opening the door and removing the clothes, I recommend emptying any remaining water in the tub with a wet/dry vacuum (or bail it out). Since you already have the bottom front service panel off and the washer unplugged, you can arrange shallow pans and towels to catch any remaining water and pull the large item filter out of the drain pump assembly as shown in the second image below. You may find a clog in this area that is preventing your washer from draining properly. Clear any clog or debris from this area and reassemble the washer. Check your drain hose for a kink or clog. Check the washer house drain for a clog or restriction. Test the washer to see if it will drain properly.

Kenmore front load washer shows door not locked but the door is locked and will not unlock. it will not start either.

Try pressing 'end of cycle' for 3 seconds. You hear a click? Then wait for 2 minutes before trying the door, do not force door. No luck? Plug off the mains. Tilt machine backwards to unscrew 3 screws below the front panel, the kick panel. Slide the panel downwards & out.

Put your hand up towards the lock portion (inside the machine that is), you will feel a tear shaped thing, pull this thing a quarter of an inch down, the door will click open. Check to see that all wires are connected well.

Next try some WD40 on the door mechanism on machine, not on door, & try the door open/close a few times. Would be nice to know what service remember.(!)

F-26 error message

F-26, is a door lock switch error code. Some things to try; Unplug the washer for 1 minute and see if the error clears. If not, try entering the diag mode by pressing any key except pause/ cancel. Press for 4 seconds and release for 4 seconds 4 times. If entered correctly, all lights should light and the first error should appear. Press the same key to advance through all the errors. When the errors finish. It will start an automatic test mode that tests all componets. The first thing it will test is the door lock. If this fails you more than likley have a door switch problem. Let me know how you make out. Catriver

DU error code

liz, DU could mean a couple of things. Something is preventing the lock bolt from retracting or the motor control cannot determine if the door lock is in a unlocked state. With the lid closed put it in a manual test mode by pressing any key except for power, start and stop. With all indicator lights off, press and hold for 3 seconds, release for 3 seconds, press and hold for 3 seconds, release for 3 seconds, press and hold for 3 seconds. If done correctly 88 should appear. While this 88 apears press the same key again within 5 seconds. You are now in the manual test mode. Now go over and press the second rinse or extra rinse key. This key will toggle between lock and unlock. See if the lock assy. is working. To exit the test, just unplug the washer for 60 seconds. If you don't have any luck with the test, you will have to do a bunch of tests on the lock mechanism to determine if in fact that is the problem. If it's under warranty, I would have the service company get into that. Catriver

Front door seal or bellow

If, I don't know of any online manuals, maybe one of the other cats do. Check out the link below. Your washer is the same as the HE3, same instructions. Only difference is that on the right side of the panel inside there might be a plastic clip when removing the control panel. Click on the link. Catriver

jenkle, F then 1 flashes when there is a primary control failure. There is a couple of things you can try. 1. Unplug the machine for 2 minutes and see if the error returns. If it does, try activating the auto diagnostic mode. With the washer plugged in and all indicator lights off, select any key except power, start and stop. Here's what you do; press/hold for 3 seconds, release for 3 seconds, press/hold for 3 seconds, release for 3 seconds, press and hold for 3 seconds. If you did it right all indicators will light and 88 will appear in the display. If there are any faults, they will then display, look for a F-60 through 68. This will confirm the board is corrupt. If no faults are found the machine will go through a five minute automatic test cycle. To stop the test, just press stop/cancel. Check your owners manual and see how long the board is warranteed.
