Check the shocks under the tub. The shock mounts break frequently.

Tub is crooked, could a balancing spring come loose

Lastly Washer vibration can be caused by a broken counter balance spring. Ur washer may be equipped with one or more counter balance springs which help to absorb the natural movement of the spinning tub. If a counter balance spring fails the tub might lean in one direction more than another and it will shake and cause vibration.
By the way my advice is free cuz God is good!

Whirlpool wtw5100sq0 clunks when put on spin cycle

Does the washer currently work fine aside from the loud clunking noise? Does the clunking noise continue or is it just one loud clunk when it starts to spin? If its just one loud clunk then that is not a problem just ignore it as that is the clutch spring releasing, it probably starting making noise from the grease getting washed off when the washer over filled.
However how did the washer overfill? That issue should be addressed too. Sometimes though, if the tub is not centered from a heavy load the water will spill over the back but its not really an overfill.

Tub broke loose from washer and is hitting the side. Can this be fixed, if so how much, can I do it myself

Had similar problem, finally found the problem. The tub is mounted with three bolts located just above the springs to the frame. One bolt was missing. Replaced the bolt. I had a terrible thump thump shaking the house spin cycle. Took the tub out and cleaned the filter too. Now the spin cycle works like it should and the tub drains faster too. This filter is a good spot to find a lost diamond. Or in my case a few sequins.

I have a loud clunking noise after my maytag empties the water, it seems to be getting worse. The model is a centennial top loader. IT is getting to be annoying. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Check the springs or straps that are connected to the wash tub. They keep the tub centered in the machine; if one is broken loose the tub will bang against the sides of the machine.

Whirlpool washer LSQ9549LW makes one loud, violent clunk ea. spin

great analogy, sounds as if you have broken/stripped the tub block( its waht secures the inner tub to the outer tub) part number 389140, if you removethe agitator( a 7/16" bolt down the center of agitator) there is one more lock ring that isactually tightened down across the top of said "tub block"( usually need a specialty spanner wrench to remove, but have done it with a pipe wrench) after removing that lock nut the inner tub will release and the new tub block can be installed...
