Question about Royal 1610X Shredder

1 Answer

Shredder power does not come on.

I believe someone put to much paper in the Rayal 1610X. I do not have a manual. Need some solutions or links to a maintenance or operations manual. I bet there is a fuse somewhere but I do not know where. Thanks in advance. Please email me with solution Rnickles@chartermi.net

SOURCE: I want to remove the cover to clean the mechanical

Remove the waste bin..inside there will be 4 screws holding the cutting head onto the container..remove those then you can lift the cutting head off the container.
Turn the cutting head over and remove the screws you see..normally 4~6 and the top will then lift off to allow access to the inside of the machine.

You have an optic sensor that is blocked or shorted. If you take it apart you should be able to identify the problem. It is up by where the paper feeds in.

How do open the machine to add the lubricant?

Best way to lubricate is just to put the oil in an "S" pattern on a sheet of paper and shred just that one sheet. My have to do that a few times if its never been lubricated.

"Manual does not tell me what my warranty is, and the people here who service say I need that info."

I am assuming it is the Royal 1610X Heavy Duty 12 Sheet Commercial Crosscut Shredder
You purchased an expensive shredder and it should have a warranty to match.

Frankly, I would not waste any time worrying what the service people say.
The warranty period on such machines should be written on the purchase receipt, and the retailer is responsible for making sure this warranty is honoured.
Unless of course you bought it on eBay.

I would try to just return it and get my money back, or at the least get a replacement.

Good luck.

The last one I took apart you had to approach it from the bottom. Remove the lower bin, then start working on screws on the bottom of the shredder. The top part should then come off so you can get to the fuse.

Power won't come on

Try to open the shredder with a screw driver, but be very careful not to break or move anything important. Remove any paper that may be in there. If its the gears inside that are not working, you can use some oil as a lubricant to fix it up.

Paper Shredder will not shut off when in auto mode

if you answer no to the following question, then I do know your solution: Q: When you unplug the unit immediately after your action of "When those paper complete the shredder does not turn off."...and then plug it back in, does the shredder STILL continue to operate? if no, then the solution is to disassemble the feeder unit and manually unclog the paper sensor.
