Question about GE JVM1660 Microwave Oven
My problem is that I need to replace the plastic squirrel cage blower fan on my microwave. I need to replace it because it melted when it sucked in flames due to a hot pan that caught on fire when it was left unattended. When I removed the fan from the motor and turned on the vent, the motor still worked. I found out that the fan assembly has a Samsung part number SMV-260UA and it is also used by Frigidaire. I also found out that the unit is very expensive, $150, from GE parts and only to replace the plastic blower fan. Thanks for your help.
Thanks i had a problem with my fan blade also

First of all, if it's just the plastic (nylon) fan blade that's melted, most any fan blade should work. I'd take the blade and motor to a local appliance parts shop and see if they have just a blade assembly that would fit. Normally the shaft diameter is standard and the only consideration is to get a blade assy whose outside diameter and thickness are the same or a little less than the original. Concerning the original part # you gave there are 3 Samsung parts that match up on http://www.samsungparts.com : Part Number Description Specification Price DE31-10178A MOTOR-VENTILATION SMV-260UA,120V,60Hz,31 $67.78 DE31-10178B MOTOR-VENTILATION SMV-260UA-1,-,-,-,-,-, $70.09 DE31-10178E MOTOR VENTILATION SMV-260UA-N,-,-,120V60 $67.87 Lastly, if there happen to be any numbers on the blade assembly itself, you can check them to see if they're good numbers at http://www.samsungparts.com Good luck!

The part # SMV-260UA runs just under $60 from SamsungParts, depending on which of three versions you choose. You can find them here.
And a simple Google search shows quite a few hits for "SMV-260UA" and they seem to run about $40, assuming the listings aren't bogus - as so many search results are.
I have a few "new old stock" and used vent & cooling fans here.
I would be happy to supply one whole or just the blades if you like.
Just tell me the dimensions: diameter of the shaft hole and the length and diameter of the "squirrel cage" itself and I'll see if one of mine would work.
We're happy to help you and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
