I am going to tell you something and please do not hit me, but, to reset the problem, all you have to do is unplug the printer from it's power source, let it set for 22 minutes and the memory chip will reset, this will thus clear the problem. IF it does not, please write back to me and I will be glad to go further if needed. Take care..... Guy :)
Check this article(How to Set Up the Lexmark X3600 or X4600 Series All-In-One) from the Lexmark website: http://bit.ly/cI3Ekr. Scroll down and go to Step 9 for the instructions on how to install/replace the cartridges. Printer should be on.
Sometimes the ink cartridge carrier won't position automatically to the middle even when the printer is on and the cover is open. Just unplug the printer from the power source. With the cover open, hold the solid white strip and gently slide the carrier to the middle of the printer. Load the cartridges. Close the cover. Plug the printer back to power source.
shouldn't be the ink. I assume you have an epson as in the picture. my ink refill kit mentions that "epson intellidge chipped cartridges" require an "ink level resetter" to complete the kit. So if you have these cartridges even once refilled the chip tells the printer the cartridge is still empty so you'll need to reset the chip with the ink level resetter.

The SX205 is a bit of a pain to use. There doesn't seem to be a way of changing an ink cartridge unless the printer decides it wants to let you. I managed it by employing fairly brutal tactics. I opened the lid to expose the works, switched the printer on, and with my finger over the switch at the mains socket I waited while the printer went through its start-up procedure, then when the ink carrier was in the right position to make a change, I quickly switched the power off. You have to be really quick to catch it in the right position, and you might need to try more than once to get it right. After changing the cartridge, I switched the mains back on, then switched the printer back on, and everything worked OK after that. It seems crazy that Epson hasn't incorporated a way of doing this into the design. Its certainly the worst Epson printer I have owned from the point of view of ease of use. Photos from it aren't very good either. Dinty
