A loudgrinding that sounds like gravel is in washing machine

The grinding noise is only in the rinse cycle. Can we take some thing out that would let us see if there are coins stuck somewhere?

Same thing, a grinding sound during the rinse AND spin cycles. Don't think it's a foreign object. Sounds like metal-on-metal.

We have the same problem - took the pumps off and looked.  We can see it, just can't get to it.  If anyone has suggestions, please pass along.  Thanks.

Due to this problem I have had to replace the pump because the change
punched a hole in the black chamber causing the washing machine to leak all over my floor. I replaced this piece in October and now will have to replace it again for the same problem. There is a defect in this pump housing that it could actually get a hole and cracks in it. The part was over $100.

I have the same problem but the coins have not made it to the pump yet, how do you get the outer drum disassembled?

I have had this same problem, coins get in the discharge and recurculation pumps. Tip it on its front side remove pumps 3 screws each, unplug wires remove 4 phillips screws and remove black housing off pump and clean, reassemble. Don't forget to check outer drum for more coins.

You will have to take the pumps off. Just take the back or front off to do it. you may have to lean the washer one way or another.

What is causing my Kenmore top washer to make a grinding noise before the rinse cycle?

Have you replaced the clutch or spin tube? There is a brake actuator that comes with the clutch kit and if this is broken it can make a very loud grinding or clacking sound.

Why does washer make grinding metal sounds during wash cycle only?

When it is washing, look to see if the basket is moving at all. The basket should be stationary during the agitation cycle.

My washer fills and agitates, but when it gets to the rinse/spin cycle it stops and makes a loud grinding noise. Thanks for your time

If it doesn't drain the water after the wash cycle and the sound is more like a buzz then the first thing that I suggest you check is the lid switch. If the lid switch is damaged then the machine will not pump the wash cycle water out and it will not go into the subsequent cycles. The "grinding" or buzzing sound can be caused by an intermittent signal reaching relay switches or solenoids.

Loud grinding/scraping/rattling noise at rinse cycle

The balance sensor is likely failed.

Check the shock absorbers and springs for breakage.

Whirlpool washer Mod# TWAS750PQO, Ser# CR3520005

is it possible that the washer was overloaded? if so the agitator has little plastic "gears" that move the agitator one way only, they could have made the sound.
you can also check under the washer to see if anything (like a coat-hanger or something) is interfering with moving parts of the washer
