SOURCE: cant fit nania first car seat

We just fitted our 'new' secondhand narnia yesterday with instructions and it was a bit of a fiddle, but once in was very secure. Place the lap/diagonal belt through the slot in the back so that it comes out the front, it then goes over the arm rest, back through the other slot, across the back of the seat, then through the slots in the other side over the arm rest again and click it in.

I have got toyota noah which wont start. the cranking its there. battery is good. there is no powere to fuel pump. fuse all ok. even changed the engine control unit.

If the vehicle is fitted with an immobiliser that could be the problem. Have you checked for a spark?

If an immobiliser is fitted the new engine ECU will have to be coded before it will work.

A wiring diagram is almost essential to diagnosing the problem. There is likely to be a relay controlling the supply to the fuel pump but what controls the relay? If the relay is controlled by the engine ECU there will be no supply until the immobiliser is disarmed.

If the vehicle was presented to me I would check for a spark and if a spark is present I would provide a temporary supply to the fuel pump to test if the engine starts, proving the fault is not immobiliser-related but a wiring or switching problem.

Waiting to get a new ignition for 96 Acura rl will it start up or will I have to get it programmed to the car

if you have the new ignition key barrel rekeyed to suit the existing key before fitting there will not be a problem as the existing key will work the immobiliser ( talk with a locksmith for that job)
if you get new keys then it will have to be reprogrammed to suit the car immobiliser system ( vehicle service centre)

What is imobilizer

It is a device most vehicle manufacturers have fitted as standard since a huge upsurge in carcrime during the late 1980's and early 90's and by the mid to late 90's most cars were fitted with one, some long before, as standard integrated into the vehicle electronics so that when the device is armed the engine management computer is prevented from switching on. Sometimes the starter circuit is also switched off.

The arming and disarming of the immobiliser is automatic and might be via the central locking or the ignition switch and a special coded key or by both. More recently smart-cards are used.

Immobilisers are designed to be very reliable and only to give trouble when the inconvenience is greatest.

In the past there have been many electrical, electronic and mechanical "immobilisers" on the market to be bought and fitted as accessories to vehicles and some are still available but most are now superfluous.

I hope that adequately answers your question.

Won't start

it may be a dodgy vehicle immobiliser. if you have one of those push button immobilisers it might not be registering a signal to turn the fuel system of the car on. i do not see it being a mechanical problem if it happened immediately after leaving the dealership. i would return to the car and "jiggle" the wires under the drivers console to see if its loose/bad wiring. but this is all of course assuming you have one of before said immobilisers fitted. if not then of course the dealership needs to inspect and fix the problem if you litterally just brought it. chances are if you argue your point enough theyll pay for your tow truck too!

My Golf 4 car key got broken at the rubber/metal neck, thus i couldn't inset the start the car. so got a welder and welded a small metal attached to the key to enable me have a grip.... oops immobile...

if your vehicle has a factory engine immobiliser the key has a transducer in the base of it that activates & deactivates the immobiliser so you will most likely have to get a genuine volkswagen key from a dealer to solve the problem.....hope this helps.....cheers

Battery ran flat on my 'R' reg VW Golf gti while I was away in Australia. The alarm was disconnected a couple of years ago but now the immobiliser seems to have triggered as there is no spark or petrol...

sometimes it depends on the type of allarm, if it is factory fitted they are a nightmare to do as most of the wireing for the allarm is intergrated into the loom, where as if it is an after marked alarm ( one fitted later on ) it shouldnt be to bad but still a long and complicated job to find all the wires and reconnect the originals bypassing the immobiliser/alarm if you are a complete novice this should not be attempted as you could immobilise the car completely, best thing for you to do is get an auto electrician to have a look at it for you, sorry its not much help
