Question about Computers & Internet

I need to change the settings for the touchpad/touchmouse on my new advent 6311, I have looked in control panel, hardware devices, and everywhere I can think to find the settings program but nothing is apparent. Can anyone advise as to where I will find the settings? Thanks millions if you can!

Cursor does not move when running my finger over the touch pad. Thank You Bill

1. Adjust the touchpad sensitivity from the control panel. Perhaps lessening the sensitivity will solve the problem. In Windows OS go to your control panel, and select hardware and sound. Then click "mouse," and when the new window pops up select the settings tab. From there you can adjust the sensitivity. If your mouse came with its own software you may be able to adjust the settings from the system panel. Hover your mouse over the icons near the system clock, and look for an icon that is titled touchpad, or mouse. You can click this icon and adjust settings.
2. Clean the touchpad with rubbing alcohol in case there is a grease buildup on the touchpad. This is the most common cause for touchpad failure.
3. Remove the touchpad drivers from device manager and reinstall. Sometimes there can be driver errors that are preventing the touchpad from working. Device manager can be accessed via control panel in Windows systems.
4. Replace the touchpad if none of these steps work. Prices can range from $15 to $50 plus labor rates. It is best to let a computer professional change this since major disassembly is required to remove and replace the touchpad, and many fragile components will be exposed during this process.

Hope this help. Goodluck!

HOW TO UNLOCK THE TOUCH PAD?

1. click start > Control Panel > Mouse (with Vista/Win 7 change control panel from category to icons)
2. in Mouse Properties window click Device Settings tab
3. click Enable button for the Synaptics TouchPad
If the TouchPad already enabled and you can't get any reponse from it, then problem due to hardware which requires service by a qualified technician as self-service of the hardware can void your warranty.

Follow these steps to change the mouse settings.

From the Start menu, click Control Panel. With Control Panel in Category View, click Printers and Other Hardware.

This is the solution that I found on the Gateway help site and if fixed my issue.

Follow these steps to change the touchpoint or touchpad settings.

To modify a touchpad setting, click the + in front of the setting you want to change, and then select the setting you want to use.
