Notes sustain forever on reason 4! cant turn it off!

I have an edirol pcr 800 set up playing through my macbook with reason 4. whatever notes i play sustain forever and will not stop. i thought it was a controller issue but the edirol works fine with all my other soft synths like massive and absynth.
the issue does not arise when i press the keys on the bottom of the page beside the arrange window, only when i use the edirol so im guessing the problem is with the connection between the edirol and reason.
anything obvious im not doing?

thanks,
David

SOURCE: notes don't stop even after I release the key

The keyboard  is not sending a note off instruction after the key is released. Try checking midi preferences in reason. If your using a Mac check that the edirol is present by launching Audio MIDI Setup utility located in the utilities folder. You can download the latest Mac driver from Roland below: EDIROL PCR-300 32-key MIDI Keyboard Controller :: Download

Do not get MIDI signal via EDIROL UA25

Midi is data only, there is no actual sound to the midi tracks themselves. They need to be assigned to either a software synth or an external synth to actually make the sounds you want to hear.

For instance if you load a demo of a midi sequance you will need to add a software synth such as the TTS-1 or Roland sound canvas which are general midi compatable and will play the instruments sounds assigned to the demo's midi channels. Use the Synth Rack feature in Sonar to open one of them. Then you will need to assign the output of each of the midi tracks to that particular synth and you will get sound. Make sure to assing the synth's audio track to you UA-25 as its audio output.

I would suggest reading in the manual and following the tutorials included in the manual to get yourself familier with how this is all done. spacer.gif

I need new rubber contact strips for my pcr-30

These are notoriously unreliable - the contact pads age whether they are played or not.

Roland/Edirol should be able to supply a set of replacements if you can track down a service agent.

In my experience ( in the UK ) their service sucks.

They have an ex-employee who does the warranty repairs from shed at home and that's it!

They won't deal direct with the public and their sales chain can't be bothered to order parts.

Good luck.

Edirol pcr 50 dont know how to work

Dont forget that the PCR50 is a Midi controller and as such has no "sound" of its own. You must have Midi compatible player or composer type software (like Reason, Cakewalk, Sonic, etc) to link up to the PCR50 to get any sound.
