Tony, we are recently running into the same issue. If you are only looking to use Flipshare to save and/or compress your videos, we found that you can do the following after clicking through the error messages: Use the top menu and select Share -> Online -> Others ...
You can then upload this compressed video to other sharing sites. - Ryan
in this case the camera doesn't have a usb for direct conection to the pc. you need a video card with video in it will have a yellow RCA conection. and you will need a program like BLAZE MEDIA PRO, using this method you will strem the video to the pc in real time . it means you havto use the RCA cable you use to plug the camcorder to the TV, connect the yellow color to the back of pc if you have the proper video input. for the audio you will need a 3.5mm cable (like headphone jack) it end in female RCA (RED - WHITE) this will go to the headphone input, or to the line in. depending on the pc.
IF you dont have a video card with video in, you need a Video Capture card.( it will have the 3 RCA conections) and it will include software to record from camera to pc.
let say you were able to connet the camera using any of the two options.
it is time to run Blaze media pro. this is all in one video application, you will have 30 days free trial period, if you like it i will recommend to get it. anyway, after you start the program it will have an option on the right side MORE VIDEO OPTIONS. click on it and it will show you get video from. and it will show you the video from the camcorder.
rewind, press play on camcorder and press record on pc and it will record the video in REAL TIME, like you just to do it in a VCR
if you need a visual on it, there is a video on www.HandBookLive.com under Electronics. The example is Belkin IEEE 1394 cable (Firewire and I-Link compatable) and it connects digital camera to a laptop.
Along with supplying power many camcorder batteries exchange data with the camcorder. If this data is not read by the camcorder it will power up but give you a power error message.
Quite often the problem is caused by a foreign material on the contacts. Try cleaning the contacts on the battery and the camcorder with alcohol and a Q tip.
Another possibility is you have a defective new battery.
