Question about Audio & Video Receivers

15TH NOVEMBER 2008 DEAR SIRS I HAVE A PROBLEM WHICH, I’M HOPING YOU MAYBE ABLE TO RESOLVE FOR ME. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING THROUGH THE INTERNET FOR A KEYBOARD FLOPPY DRIVE, WHICH IS ALMOST WORN OUT AND BARELY READS ANY FLOPPY DISKS. MY PROBLEM IS, I REQUIRE A REPLACEMENT FOR IT. BUT CANNOT SEEM TO LOCATE ONE ANYWHERE. I HAVE REMOVED THE FLOPPY DRIVE AND TAKEN THE DETAILS FROM IT. I KNOW YOUR COMPANY DEALT WITH PANASONIC. MY MUSICAL KEYBOARD IS A TECHNICS KN2000, AND THE FLOPPY FD 20. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT TECHNICS HAVE STOPPED MAKING KEYBOARDS 3 YEARS AGO. THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FLOPPY DRIVE AND DETAILS ARE AS FOLLOWS: - MATSUSHITA ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS CO LTD EME-213DBJ A352DE 1 34B THE DATA CONNECTION IS A 24 PIN COMPLETELY FLAT RIBBON CABLE. BEING AS YOUR COMPANY DEALS WITH MATSUSHITA ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS CO LTD CAN YOU TELL ME IF THE FLOPPY DRIVE IS STILL AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE, OR IF NOT CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT EACH OF THE 24 PINS ON THE CONNECTOR REPRESENTS SO THAT I MAYBE ABLE TO SUBSTITUTE THIS FLOPPY DRIVE AND CONVERT A STD FLOPPY DRIVE WITH 40 PIN CONNECTION BY KNOWING WHAT THE PIN ARRANGEMENT IS. COULD YOU PLEASE ADVISE ME EITHER: - 1. IF THERE IS A REPLACEMENT FOR THIS FLOPPY DRIVE NEW. 2. IF SO HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST ETC. 3. IF THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT AT ALL COULD YOU GIVE ME THE DATA PIN CONNECTION DETAILS OF THIS DRIVE. 4. CAN IT BE CONVERTED INTO A USB DRIVE???? OF SOME DESCRIPTION. YOU CAN EMAIL ME AT:- USERV9845@AOL.COM IF YOU REQUIRE PHOTOS OF THE DRIVE I CAN SEND THEM. YOURS FAITHFULLY MR EDDIE VINCENT. EMAIL:-USERV9845@AOL.COM

The problem is caused by a slack drive belt in the floppy drive. it can be cured temporary by lopping the belt over the pin that sticks up near the small dive pulley. this gives the belt a bit more tension. I am trying to find a replacement for this belt.

I have an Onkyo AV receiver model TX-NR509 and the internet radio stopped working. I have a good internet connection. How do I fix this?

I see on Onkyo's website that the iMerge service was discontinued in late 2008, Stating that:
"the selection of Internet Radio stations available through Net-Tune will decrease and eventually will cease."
You may want get on the Onkyo website and see what services are available for that receiver.

Nakamichi AV10. Re: left channel softer than the right one.

Hi,\

Its an issue with the tone switch activate and reactivate it to get back to normal volume on both speakers, and would suggest you to clean the switch with WD40 and it should resolve the issue

Optical inputs

Hi boltbob

Strange one... . The unit has'nt just lost its presets for optical input selection by chance. Most receivers have a volatile memory for user presets that can reset input settings to default when the unit has been unplugged for a period of time. This may mean that your amp is not looking at the optical inputs for that source. If it has correctly selected the optical inputs, then something common to all optical inputs has failed, maybe a a buffer stage between optics, D/A or Source switching stages.

Try disconnecting the unit from the wall socket for 10 mins to do a hard reset and see if that has any resolve to the issue.

Other than that, its out with the multi meter anbd do some DC checks about the optical , buffer and d/a stages. Try the reset and let me know how you go.
