The pins are supposed to fall out thats why there are plastic catch cups. Its designed for shipping with the pins put back your washer will not work properly and may damage it if continue to use it with the pins.

Noticed plastic slivers in the drum and under the rubber boot.Is the from the drum being unbalanced

Could be that the 'spider' mount for the drum is broken and the drum is catching on the surrounding plastic outer drum.

Why does it always become unbalanced in spin cycle?

how confident are you to get inside it? Check the balance springs and shock absorbers.

Normally it is two simple things.

First the machine must be level front to back and left to right. Also all 4 feet must be in equal contact with the floor.

Make sure you load the washer evenly with clothes. Mix large and small items so when the spin starts the clothes even out. Never wash just one large item that is very absorbent, like one bathrobe or one blanket..

My frigidaire front load washer will not consistently spin the water out of the clothes.

The pump is electric. The rubber hose going down to it has a coin catching cup in it. If you remove the small hoses it will be a ***** to get them back on. Your mission will be to remove items from coin cup and put her back together WITHOUT disturbing the smaller hoses that come from tub.

Unbalance load

you have to many clothes in ur washer. if you wash a comforter it gets unbalanced. or rugs. they are the worst. under your washer theres a plastic cover over the motor in the center of that cover theres a silver screen it needs a 1/4 inch allen wrench. insert inside screw turn clock wise to ensure that your rotor< plastic cover> is tight.

My washer says it has an unbalanced load while washing even if i run it with no clothes in the washer

you have a cracked motor housing. Lay machine on its back. remove centre motor bolt with allen wrench. pull off rotor. remove four bolts holding windings. unplug wires and speed sensor. inspect plastic housing with wires around it. you will see cracks in the plastic. there's your problem

The tub is spinning off balance. Yes the load is evenly distributed and the washer is level. We repaired the coupling and now hooked the washer back up it is spinning out of control banging against the...

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

If you look at the section on "Machine Base Parts" you'll see a number of springs and vibration pads.

It's possible that one or more of the springs or pads has come loose or broken.

In order to get to them you have to remove the cabinet.

Here is a description of how to do it.

Also see the Whirlpool Service Manual for top load washers. It has a troubleshooting section that describes the reasons for excessive walking or vibration.

The plastic cup and brass pin are simply shipping tub locks. The pins are designed to brake off and fall into the cups when the washer is installed. They are NOT a problem.

I have a Kenmore top loading washer. While moving it into the house, it made a loud sound and a small copper pin fell out of the bottom. Does anyone know how to put this back in place?

That pin is a pin used to move the washer (secure the drum) and is not used when in normal operation. There are 4 total that should be removed. They are stored in little cups on the legs, and likely fell out of the cup.

The pin fell out of a catch cup used for transporting the washer when new. It is not important unless you put it some place it does not belong.

If you laid the washer down to do the repair you probably got the base plate out of alignment. Open the lid, reach inside and grab the wash tub. Pick it up as much as you can and shift it around. It will usually reseat the plate.
Also block the front of the washer with your foot and raise the rear of the washer off the floor. The self leveling legs should drop down. Let the back of the washer loose and it will settle in on the leveling legs.

This washer should be left in the upright position to change the drive coupling.

The pins may just be shipping pins that are designed to break and fall into white plastic holders when the washer is installed.

See the Sears parts site for your washer at:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=11092281100

to determine if these are the parts.
