SOURCE: Washing machine is not completing it's wash cycle

either you have a blocked hose to the pump or the pump itself is either jammed or the impellor has come off the shaft. either way i think you will need to replace the pump. i presume you managed to get the water out? if so i would say the pump is favourite.

Is the tub still full of water? If yes then try lowering the outlet hose into a bowl or bucket and see if any water comes out, if yes the system is clear and it would be pump related, if no then you have a blockage somewhere.

  • Find your lint trap. Lint traps in washing machines can be in the agitator (the large plastic piece in the center of the tub), at the top of the washer on the rim of the tub, or attached to the washing machine's drainage hose.
  • 2 Pull out the agitator tube to check for the lint trap. Peel any loose lint from the filter. Scrub away lint that doesn't peel off easily with a heavy-duty paper towel or a wet sponge.
  • 3 Feel your way around the top rim of the washing machine's basin. If you locate a trap, pull it straight out of the machine. Peel away loose lint and follow up with a wet sponge or heavy-duty paper towel.
  • 4 Check your machine's drainage hose for an attached lint trap. Gently remove the trap and peel the top layer of lint off. Rinse the trap in low-pressure, warm water. Reattach to the drainage hose.
  • 5 Check for and remove any lint or debris that may have dropped into the washing machine basin during the cleaning process.

    Not pumping out water

Most likely cause is a blocked drain hose. With water in machine try removing the drain hose from where it joins the house drainage (connection to waste under sink or pipe that is specifically for WM.) Put this in a bowl and lower bowl to floor. If water runs out the drain hose is not blocked, if no water runs then the hose is blocked. If water runs then the pump is either broken or blocked - when it should be pumping if it makes a noise then it is not broken.

To unblock the hose or pump - drain the water from the machine (there should be a small pipe hidden behind a front cover at the bottom of the machine put this in a bowl (it will be very slow.) Once drained you should be able to access the pump (it is really an impeller) this should have a screw on front, undo this and remove you should now be able to clean the pump housing. You can also check whether the hose is blocked by blowing down it or pouring water down it. If it is blocked then squeezing the corrugated part of the hose will free some of the blockage. Keep doing this until water can be poured down it. If you live in a hard water area then it would be worth while doing a very hot wash on a regular basis to removed undissolved soap from the machine.

    Good Luck

It wont drain the water away after a wash we

sounds like your pump may be gone, or could be pipe blocked. to check pipe fill machine take outlet pipe at rear of machine and lay this into a bowl. If water flows ok then all pipes are clear. As water is coming through just put machine onto spin cycle and raise hose to see if water will then pump out.

Maytag washing machine won't drain or agitate

Check the drain line for kinks or obstructions. Check the pump. Remove the hoses from the pump and use a flashlight to look into the suction port. Make sure nothing is clogging the pump (like a stray piece of clothing) and check the pump impeller. Make sure there are no blades missing/broken and that the impeller spins freely. If there are any broken/missing blades or if you can't get the impeller to spin freely, the pump is defective. Hopefully it's just a clogged drain line, pump, or jammed impeller. Remember to disconnect the machine from electrical source before attempting any repair. Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

Check your waste pipe roof vent.

If it is not free (of dead animals leaves etc) - it creates a suction - rather than a drain in your pipe.

Wahing Machine wont drain--Centrex CTW 60518

It appears your pump/coupling has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to or and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

The washer make a humimng noise and don't complete the draining stage. I remove all clothes from of it, and still have some water

    Heool Welcome to Fix ya,

Is your drain pipe at the same level as the top of the machine?

You may have any of these two common problems!

    Defective Water Pump
If the motor is running and water is not pumping it could be a defective water pump. Ensure the tub to pump water hose is clear. If so, replace the pump.

    Defective Motor
If the motor is not running, the pump will not work. Most washing machine use a reversible motor and it is possible for the machine to agitate and not spin or drain.

They need to be diagnosed to know which to replace. You will need a capable hands on tech there to do this!
