Check the printer property if the colour ink is mark also check the ink level if you still have ink in the cartrige. to go to the printer property click on start menu locate printer and fax click on it when open move mouse on your printer name and right click on it scrown down to property that it the last task then click on the general task click "printing references" when another task open click on the advanced. There you can find the black and white or colour you can then select which task you want to do in some clolour printer task promt automatically which you can select the task you want to perform but in other printer you have to go to the printer property to specified which task you want to do. if you have low ink level then you have to change your cartrige to new refilled ink.

Hi,

  1. Click start --> Control panel --> Printer and faxes
  2. Right click on printer 'C4200 series' and select 'Set as default printer'.
  3. Right click again on the same printer icon and select 'Use printer Online'.
  4. Try Printing.
  5. You can delete the icon that says 'C4200 series(copy1)' if you are not using it.

Hi Colin.

I just have had the same problem with my Aculaser C4200.
I may have found a way to solve you problem.
Just print 10 blank (without anything), and after that i took all toner's, the fuser etc. and put it back again. Printed 10 more blank pages, and printed over 200 pages with lot of tekst and colour (think that 50 pages could do it).
After 2 days everything is still ok for me.

C4200 Not printing black ink, which is new

Its purely your CATRIDGE problem...so please open up your printer and check for the two small black colored boxes..in that you can easily identify the B/W one....so if its lighter in weight compared to that of coloured one....you need to refill it or buy a new catridge......THIS is the only solution to this problem..

I have a HP Photosmart C4200 series printer. I want to use an alternative supplier colour cartridge, but it won't print! I feel it should. How do I make the printer print with this cartridge?

Contact the dealer for the alternate cartridge, you probably have a defective cartridge that should be replaced under warranty. The third party cartridges are generally remanufactured, cartridges that have been used once (or more) before, then refilled. The quality varies widely. See here for a study of third party cartridge quality.
