Your hard drive has prolly crashed, same thing happened to my buddies macbook. when he turned it on, it went to a blank screen.  Im sorry  but hopefully you still have a warranty on it bc it was 300 $ for a new hard drive that my buddy got.  take it in to apple and have them look at it.

Mac book pro. Black screen cannot start but with boot sound

Have you tried connecting an external monitor.

A boot chime means the Mac has passed POST, that the screen remains black initially suggests there is a problem getting image to screen which could mean a bad cable to the LCD or the LCD display its self is having problems.

By connecting to an external display you verify the graphics on the logic board is functional, and it could get you up and running till the display problem is fixed.

Also try powering up and when you hear the chime, hold down the COMMAND+OPTION+P+R keys, and keep holding them till the machine has chimed 3 times, this will reset the 'BIOS' in case there is a glitch there stopping the display from showing up.

Powers on but screen is blank

If the screen is black, then you will need to get the screen fixed. Try turning it on and waiting a while then turning up and down the volume. If you can hear the clicks then it is just the screen.

If the screen is grey blue or white try inseting the OSX disk then start up the computer holding down "C". You should be able to run disk utility from there.

Back up files before running HD Repair! (you may need to get someone to help you with this)

If this doesn't work you will need to take it for repairs.

Hope this helps!

My laptop is on but the screen is blue and won't go to the desktop

A Mac that shows you a blank blue screen instead of logging you in may be afflicted by a malfunctioning startup item. Most people have a number of programs that start up whenever you log into your computer, and it's likely that one of these programs is causing issues. The startup item is unable to load, and so it causes the rest of the computer to hang.
In order to get your Mac past this hanging blue screen, you need to boot into safe mode and figure out which startup item is causing problems. The Apple Support article "I see a blank blue screen when I try to start up my computer" tells you exactly how to go about this procedure. Basically, you must remove all your startup items and add them back in one-by-one, rebooting each time until you find the one that causes the hanging blue screen.

How do i get to the bios setup for my book

Macs use Intel's Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) to perform the same job as a BIOS. Intel have been trying to introduce this for years, but thanks to Microsoft dragging their feet, were unable to put it into any production units until Apple switched onto their processors. Therefore there is no BIOS screen on a Mac, as they don't have a BIOS.

so to achive changes you have to Edit your Boot.ini file
