Question about Kenmore 93142 Gas Dryer

1 Answer

Kenmore dryer sounds like flat tire

My Dryer sounds like it has a flat tire...Everytime the drum makes a rotation it sounds like the drum is slamming down. Is there a possibility that it is out of balance? I leveled it but the noise continued. I believe the model number is 87042/97042 that is what is on the manual.

Take the top and front off your dryer and check the front drum slides. The top slide usually wears out.

Hi, I have a Kenmore Elite dryer model 110.76962501. It was working fine earlier in the day. Now when I turn it on, it makes a humming, whirring sound. The drum is still rotating. Any suggestions?

Hi etzelmueller...
I think you have a drum roller problem or a felt seal problem on your dryer to cause the noise you describe..
Please take time to rate me.

The dryer is making a thump/thud noise as the drum turns. The dryer works fine but the noise sounds like something hitting everytime the drum goes around. Could this be the belt going out?

Check the rollers in the back of the machine. It sounds like you have a flat spot on one of them. Here is a link to the part in case you need it.

Dryer makes a sound as if there's a marble loose in some rotating part. It doesn't seem to be coming from the drum, because when I disconnect the band from the motor and hand rotated the drum at speed...

Thumping sound from loose drum

Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
If you have a front loading machine, Unplug the dryer, remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.
Check your rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If they don't then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve you noise problem.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Constant "thumping" sound when dryer is going

you can fix it by ordering a whirlpool roller kit but its no big deal the drum sits on rubber rollers when it just sits the rolers get flat spots on them like tires and makes the thumping sounds its just noisey but no big deal but they do make a kit with softer rollers
