I have the same issue and am hoping for suggestions!

My D70s is having same problem with my 80-200 f2.8 lens all of a sudden. Whenever I soft press the shutter, it does not autofocus and r07 is displayed in the 'frame remaining' display. The camera, however, is working great with other lenses.

My D70s is having same problem with my 18 -70 AF-S DX lens. Whenever I soft press the shutter, it does not autofocus and r07 is displayed in the 'frame remaining' display. Have tried new bateries, changed CF card but no luck, even tried the dreaded reset which forces you to reset all menu settings but did not fix the problem.

I know this may sound silly - but how are your batteries? Mine would do that when the batteries would run out. If that's not it, you might try the reset button. It is located opposite the battery compartment on the left side (when viewed from the back) is a very small rubber Reset button to be used as a last resort, when the camera cannot be reset by other means.

My camera will not focus and take a picture.. I am receiving a r07 on the top screen and nothing seems to be helping. Any suggestions?

"rXX" is the cameras estimate of how many shots legt on your memory card. As for other issue: Turn camera "ON" and remove battery while holding shutter button for about 30 seconds. Turn off, reinsert battery, turn "ON" then press hardware reset button on bottom of camera for about 2 seconds. Page 200 in Nikon d70 (do not know about d70s) manual.

I have an early 2004 D70 and am receiving random digital display errors of FEE, CHG, FOR. If I play with removing and reinstalling the battery or memory card they will usually clear but I cannot figure...

Okay the FEE is telling me that you haven't locked your lens in at F22. Lock the lens should be an aperture ring turn it to the smallest aperture and there is a little lock on the side of the lens that will hold it in that position. The camera then looks after the rest. If this is allowed to float then the camera is getting a faults input from the lens. The CHG is a card error, possible you have been deleting images from the card and not formatting the card the card needs to be formatted to the camera.
As a rule of thumb format the memory card in the camera after each time you download pictures to the computer. This cleans the memory card and allows proper communications between memory card and camera. Okay you'll love this one the "FOR" error is a known problem with Nikon D70 and can be fixed by updating your camera firmware on Nikon's site that Otta help. cheers have fun

Connected a cable release the first operation of which has caused the shutter to "freeze". Error message reads r07. Display screen showing other functions such as auto focus, exposure readings, file size,...

1. Try removing the lens, fire off a few shots to confirm the mirror flips up and the shutter opens. 2. If that doesn't work, go into the menu and find "reset".

Hi i have a nicon d70 it was working fine when taking photo's on saterday went to change lens from sigma 28-70 to sigma to sigma 75-300 and it came up with error code R07 and noththing worked changed back...

Have you tried formating the memory card? R07 means it has 7 shots in internal memory. Since you have already pressed the reset through the small hole in the front, if formatting the card does not work, try downloading the latest firmware from Nikon and installing it.

My nikon d70 says that file does not contain image data

Hi,
If the memory card came from a different camera and inserted into the Nikon D70, the error message will appear. Just format the memory card with the D70 and the error should disappear.
Hope this helps.

Error in D70s

The r07 is just a display that tells you how many pictures you have memory for in the buffer. It's not an error code at all. It will change when you change resolution, since pictures at low resolution take less memory than at high resolution. On the D70s this number will go from about r04 to r11 as you go from RAW down to low resolution.

How do i clear the buffer for d70? getting r07 message. my settings are jpeg normal large format

The buffer clears automatically, as the pix get written to the memory card. If you get r07 the next time you take a pic, then the buffer has cleared from the previous pic.

There is a problem only if you get to r00 and it stays there.

I am getting an r07 error message on my D70; works in manual mode, but won't auto focus. Have tried changing batteries and memory cards. Any suggestions? BCH

Try cleaning the contacts on the camera body and lens where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Err on the lcd of nikon d70

If you've tried removing and reattaching the lens, removing and reinstalling the memory card, and anything else you can think of then it's probably locked up just like mine did a month or two ago. Googling the problem turned up a few with the same troubles but no solutions other than to take it to a service agent for repair. Sorry, can't tell you exactly what was replaced as I don't have the paperwork with me but I do recall it was a $12 part that cost $260 in labour to fit!!

The D70 has a reset button at the bottom of the camera. Firts of all, I think you have checked you have the correct lens inserted (at least D mount) and well done, checked your memory card is correctly inserted, and if you have another, change it.Checked the battery. Looked the AF modes on the body. If everything is OK, then press the reset button. If you have no answer, then take the camera to the T. Service.
