I started my Maytag Neptune washer like normal, and it got stuck on the spin cycle and now the door won't open. I tried to restart the washer, just put it on the spin cycle, put it on the rinse and spin and even unplug it. The door will not open. What can I do?

Re: Door won't open
You can take the 4 phillips screws out of the corners of your soap dispensor, the lid of the dispenser willlift up and youll see wrapped around in there eitehr a floresent green or orange plastic wire. that is a manual release cord for the latch assy. this will allow you to get your clothes from the machine, form there look into why the latch never released

Open your home's breaker box and flip the circuit breaker
switch to "On." If it is already set to "On," flip it to "Off" and then
back to "On" to reset it. A power surge may have interrupted your wash
cycle so the drain/spin cycle never actually started.
Move the washer away from the wall and straighten the drain
hose if it is twisted or turned in a way that makes it difficult for
water to flow through it. Replace a kinked hose with a new hose.
Push on the washer door to make sure it is fully closed. The
washer will not drain or spin unless the door is closed tight. Press
the "Start/Pause" button after you close the door.
Wait for about 30 seconds after you press "Start/Pause." The
washer will not operate until it has been able to fully lock the door
and restart the drain process.
Run the clothes through a complete cycle again, making sure
you use cold water if there are a lot of suds in the washer. Too much
soap in the washer can make it hard to drain. Use high-efficiency or
low-sudsing detergents on subsequent uses.
Neptune washing machine displays error codes, also called "help codes,"
to identify specific problems with your washer. Once you close your
Maytag Neptune's door, the machine locks the door, goes through the
selected wash cycles and unlocks the door when the laundry is finished.
Error codes appear when there are problems with the door, the inflow and
drainage of water and the motor.
Your Maytag Neptune washer displays the "do" help code when the washing machine
is trying to start a cycle, but the door is open or not locked
properly. If this message is displayed, close the door securely and
restart the washing cycle.
The "FL" code indicates that the washing machine was unable to
lock the door after you closed it. Open and close the door tightly, then
restart the washing cycle.
The "Sd" code indicates that you have added too much detergent to
the washing machine and your laundry has too many suds. The machine
will stop displaying this code if it has successfully run the suds
recovery cycle, which removes the excess suds from the wash load. If the
code remains, reduce the amount of detergent in the load. Use less
detergent for similar loads of laundry in the future.
The "PF" code indicates that a power failure has occurred.
Restart the wash cycle. If the code still appears, check that the
washing machine is still plugged in to the electrical outlet.
The "nd" code indicates that your Maytag Neptune is not draining
as it should. Check that the drain hose isn't kinked and that the stand
pipe isn't clogged. If you find either of these problems, fix them
before restarting the washing cycle.
The "LO" code appears when the washing machine has finished the
selected wash cycle, but cannot unlock the door. Verify that the door is
closed properly, push the "Off" button, and wait two minutes. The door
should unlock and the error code will disappear. If the error code
remains, unplug the washing machine, wait two minutes and plug it back
into the electrical outlet.
The "Lr" code indicates that the washing machine's motor is not
running as it should. Have your Maytag Neptune washing machine serviced
by a certified Maytag repair professional.
d sounds as if your having a timer issue here. not recognizing the end of cycle and entering a new one ( bad timer).. as far as time of unlocking this is normal, theres a wax motor holding the door shut for i believe 3 min's.. and the water sloshing sounds is also normal they use a "water filled" balance ring around the perimeter of tub to help with the overall balance of machine
Check latch mechanism for alignment. Often operation of machine loosens latch mechanism causing internal switch for "door open (or ajar)" preventing rinse or spin cycle. Opening and closing door presses latch mechanism closing internal switch allowing for continue processing to rinse or spin cycles.
open panel at rear of control panel usning phillips head and 5/16 the board attached to that panel will probably have a burnt r14 r1 or r21 resistor. this has been an ongoing problem with this model even a class action lawsuit.(lawsuit expired 9/2005) you can change the board but this will eventually happen again maytag directs you to do a full conversion kit rebuild about $400.
