Question about Furuno 1715 LCD Radar System GPS Receiver

Furuno 1622 doesn't work, water coming out cable at screen!

Have a Furuno 1622. Stopped working and there are vertical lines moving horizontally across the screen, interior lights flicker with radar pulses. Electrical smell! Disconnected everything. Display screen seems to run ok with no radar dome connected. Found water coming out of the cable which connects to the screen! My guess is, since inside the radar dome everything looks bone dry, that there must be a chafe in the cable to the radar dome, and water is coming into the insulated cable and weeping out the connector inside the boat @ the screen.

Wonder if anyone else has ever seen this? Haven't checked the furuno website but probably need to get a replacement cable.

Yes the cable should be replaced if you are lucky, the unit is still OK (display) Try the new cable, draped across the boat before rigging. If fault exists with new cable, replace system, or find a new display on ebay

My scanner copies have a vertical yellow streak covering half the page. What can I do to solve the problem ?

Lines or Banding Within the Image

If the scanner is generating lines or banding within the image during preview and/or scan, below is a list of possible solutions.

Horizontal Lines: If the lines run horizontally throughout the image, it is almost definitely interference of some kind. First thing to try is reverse the cable (Astra series only, except for 2400S), trying with and without termination as well. It could also be the SCSI card itself that is causing the interference. Try reseating it in a different slot, away from other cards. Try moving the scanner itself to another location, farther away from computer components such as monitors and CPUs. If none of that works, search for the file ?prescan.dib? on the hard disk and delete it, then try the scan again. If that still doesn?t work, follow the clean uninstall and safe mode install of our software. If these troubleshooting steps do not work, it could be a physical defect within the cable that?s generating extra interference, and the cable should be replaced. If the cable has been replaced already, it may be the UDS-IS11 itself generating the interference from being defective. Replace it.

Vertical Lines: If the lines run vertically throughout the image, it is probably a hardware problem, most likely with the scanner itself. However, follow the cable-reversing instructions above, remove the ?prescan.dib? file, and try the scan again. Often, if they are thin lines they are from dust within the optics. Open the case and blow out the dust with compressed air.

There is a line down the center of the screen

whether the line-shaped vertical or horizontal? if it appears a horizontal line on your side, it signifies the vertical rays do not exit the screen or your TV vertical part is not working. damage can be caused by IC Vertical, or in the vertical deflection coil yoke.dan if a line that appears is from top to bottom that indicates the horizontal section is not working, usually there is a problem of the deflection yoke is not connected or defective.

On the lcd display lines are apearing both horizontal and vertical, please help.

Your best bet is to contact Furuno. Replacing the LCD in those displays is very time consuming. I recommend writing your waypoints down or transferring them to a computer while you can still somewhat see the screen.

I have a Furuno 1622 radar. It only shows a ring

I don't beleive this is goning to fix your problem. Open the dome and visually check that it is spinning. There is a maintenance menu though. To open the maintenance menu;
1. Turn the radar on.
2. Wait until the initial screen appears, then press and hold UP and DOWN keys together.
3. In about 10 seconds, the maintenance menu as shown below will appear.
4. Press MENU key to close the menu.

Tv repair

A vertical line means the line is up and down in the middle of the screen. That would indicate that the vertical IC and the surrounding components are working perfectly. A vertical line as described is the result of a lack of horizontal deflection (to move the beam from side to side) Since the high voltage is obviously OK, the problem is most likely a bad solder connection in the horizontal yoke circuit. Examine the bottom of the PC board in the area of the flyback transformer, and yoke connector (has four wires Red, Blue, Green, Yellow).and the pincousion coils, capacitors, etc in between. Flexing the board in that area may cause the problem to come and go. Resulting arcing should also be visible. BE CAREFUL, as hazardous voltages are present in the circuit!

I have a Mitsubishi CS-3125R that displays a horizontal line with sound. I suspect the horizontal transistor is out and cannot find one. Any ideas?

You are misleading yourself. When you have a horizontal line across the screen it means that the vertical circuit is not working. You see, the vertical circuit moves the beam up and down which is not happening. The horizontal circuit moves the beam left and right and it is working. Your set probably needs a new vertical output IC and some electrolytic capacitors that work with it. The caps dry up with time and harm the output IC.

Screen only showing vertical lines after being dropped

The damage could be either in the LCD screen or the connection cable. Open the screen assembly and check the connection cable first.
In case it doesn't work you can find replacement LCD screens here.

There are two types of lines.

Lines caused by a bad LCD screen and lines caused by poor sync.

A bad LCD will cause perfectly straight vertical and horizontal lines that don't move at all. This is because the row and column addressing ICs have gone bad, so you will end up with rows or columns of bad pixels.

Poor sync looks more like what you are describing. The picture will flip vertically and horizontally.

Poor or missing sync can be caused by a bad video cable, or a bad IC on the main board.

If the monitor has a removable video cable, borrow another one from a friend to test if the monitor is working. If it works, head to your local computer store and buy a new cable.
If the monitor still doesn't work with a different cable, you may have a bad main board. The only way to repair the monitor will be to replace the board.

If you open the monitor, be sure to check for bad capacitors. They can cause all sorts of strange faults. Look elsewhere on this site for how-tos on inspecting capacitors.

If your video cable is not removable, there's not much you can do. You will need a way to test that each pin on the cable connector on the main board conducts to a corresponding pin on the other end of the cable. You can do this if you have a multimeter, or a continuity tester.

Sceptre X20G Naga III showing horizontal and vertical lines

Hi...there,

Yeah, there it... It's called a AD board. It that piece of component were you plugged your VGA or DVI cables to it. Panel scratchs repair kits, not recommended. Beside your panel could be already damaged by this problems you had. Replacing the AD board gonna cost you though...any where from $70.00 or more... My recommendation, just get a new one...saved you the headached and $$$.
Have a nice day!
