I have the same problem.  HP 1600 that says it has a carriage jam.  Open door, clear jam, press OK.  I've unplugged it, replugged, etc.  There is nothing jamming the carriage that I can see.  It does scan to my computer, and I did get a color copy of a photo and it seemed OK.  But when I tried to make another copy, and tried to print a document, I got the same  carriage jam message.  HELP!

I had this same problem with an HP2355v. There is a carriage directly below the print heads (on the right side of the printer) where the ink is dumped during the cleaning process. The carriage needs to be able to freely move (fore and aft). I noticed that my carriage was really gummed up on the left side of the carriage. I cleaned the edge of the carriage and the channel where it travels with alcohol and qtips. The carriage now moves with minimal effort and the error is fixed! Good luck.

I had the same issue. The IT group for my company no longer supports the HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One, so I decided to monkey around with it myself. Not sure if this will help anyone else, but this is what I did to resolve my issue. Good luck.

1. Turn off and unplug the printer.
2. Lift the head/cover unit and take out the ink cartridges.
3. Manually slide the ink carriage to the left. (Here, I noticed a pool of ink on the bottom where the ink carriage normally rests).
4. Use some tissue and a Dry Erase Board Cleaning fluid (I think Qtips and rubbing alcohol will suffice) and clean out as much of the ink as you can. Please note that there is a piece of sponge at the bottom (that is already built into the printer). You probably don't want to rip out the sponge. Just clean up as much of the ink as you can.
5. Replace the ink cartridges, close the cover, plug in the printer and turn it back on.

After doing so, the error went away and my printer is back to normal.

First make sure everything is clear inside and nothing was put in your printer by accident, then unplug everything and plug it back in then restart... hope it works:)

I'm getting an error msg and can't print. It says please fix cartridge jam and hit enter. I can't find any jam. What do I do?

If there isn't a cartridge jam then it's probably a carriage jam:
However, I'm not too familiar with clearing a carriage jam. I just know that if your cartridges are not blocked then the carriage is likely at fault. You will need to Google this on how to fix a carriage jam.

I just changed the (2) ink cartridges in my HP PCS 1610 All-in-One HP printer and now get an error message "CARRIAGE JAM - OPEN DOOR. CLEAR CARRIAGE JAM, AND THEN PRESS OK." I don't see any jam...

Have you tried moving the carriage to see if it really is jammed? Maybe you haven't put the levers down properly on your new cartridges....remove them, see if the carriage slides, then refit them and check the carriage again. You wont visually 'see' a carriage jam,; you have to try moving it. By the way, if it doesn't move, DONT force it to try and overcome the jam try and reason out why it doesn't move.
Hope this helps!

Carriage jam - Turn machine on, get carriage jam message, however the carriage can move freely if moved by hand. If I close and hit enter, carriage sounds like it's moving, then I get the error message...

Sorry about the B.S., you can move the carriage by hand, and all you need is to clean the encoder strip that runs across behind the carriage assembly. You can wipe the strip gently with an alcohol swab or a Q-tip moist with alcohol. The bars on that strip tell the carriage where it is and grease or ink on it will give the carriage jam error. No calibration necessary after moving the head or cleaning the strip.

Carriage jam

Usually when the printer displays a carriage jam error the carriage assembly is jamming along the carrige path.
There may be something in the carriage path or the carriage shaft may need lubricating.
Check the area where the carriage is has stoped. There might be an obstruction visible.
