Question about InFocus LP 820 Multimedia Projector

Open Question

LP820 projector I noticed that mine strikes the light, i have about thirty secondsbefore it turns off without warning, and then the lcd panel reads"please wait, retrying" and then the lamp strikes again, turning on,and then shutting off after maybe 15-20 seconds. I thought that maybetheres a thermostat thats malfunctioning, but ive taken my projectorapart and kept the thermostat cool while the projector ran, but thesame problem still happens. It cant be the thermostat, i think, and idont know what else to try.

SOURCE: Infocus LP820 - Turns on for 30sec then shuts down

This could be one of two problems I have seen with another model Infocus projector (they are very good projectors though)

The first is the video input. Make sure it is attached correctly at both ends of the cable.
The second, remove the dust covers and blow them out. The problem can arrise if the temperature sensor detects the air inside the unit is getting too hot. If you can see the sensor when the dust covers are off (it will look like a little lump of goo on the end of a wire) then just give it a wipe as well. If dust settles on those it can cause incorrect temps to be reported.

Hope that solves your poblem =)

SOURCE: hey there, lp820 user

No I was never able to come to a resolution for this projector.  My next step was to buy a new bulb but I haven't gotten around to that since I already have another projector that works.  If you do buy a new bulb, let me know if that fixes the problem.  The only other thing I've heard it mind be was a memory problem or the temperature sensor...  good luck

Red color seperating

If you mean the red light is displaying offset from the blue and green then the red LCD panel inside the projector needs to be physically adjusted. If you take the projector apart you'll notice that the light source is split into red, green and blue light by passing through an optical splitter. Each color then passes through it's own LCD panel. Next, each color is joined back together by another light splitter to be projected to your screen. The red LCD panel is misaligned.

My data projector eiki LC-Xb23 goes off without warning and the warning light is flashing

If the power light & warning light both flash red, this indicates that the projector is overheating. Once the projector has cooled down the warning light would continue to flash red and the power light would be solid red.

You should clean the air filters.

The filters are located on the underside. Disconnect all cables and invert. remove the 2 air filters located at the front and rear by pullingthe latches. They are both rectangular in shape.

Being very careful not to damage them, you should rinse the dust out and leave them to dry fully before replacing them in the projector.

This should cure the problem.

It could be are any of the led's blinking. ?
The other thing is to check the bulb is seated correctly in its connector.
Try removing bulb and reinserting.
Also clean the air filters at same time to make sure they are fine.

I have an infocus lp820 with what looks like an blue ghost omage in centre of screen,i suspect optical engine or lcd panels

This projector is one I've worked on many times and you are correct. The lcd panels are burnt probably due to a hard shutdown not allowing the fans to cool the inner components done repeatedly over several sessions.

remove the rear cover then the top and look to where the lcd cables go down from the main board to the lcd panels. move the cable 1 at a time towards the connection on the main board just so you can see down into the panel and give it a good blast. de-ionized air works best. repeat for the other 2 panels.

Have a infocus lp820 . There is a blue line on the

if it's a pixelated line, it's your lcd panel. if it's a blended, uneven line, it may the polarizer on the lcd panel. either way, you'll have to replace the whole optical engine.

Connecting Dell laptop to Infocus LP820

The USB cable doesn't transmit Video. You need to plug in the VGA cable. The "DVI" port on the LP820 is not a a DVI but a M1 Digital port and won't work with DVI unless you get a converter.
