Question about NEC AccuSync LCD71VM 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Picture on monitor is distorted

The picture on my monitor is oval shaped and shortened on the sides. I was fooling around with the three buttons on the panel and I can't seem to restore the settings. My monitor picture was dimming periodically and I thought if I degaussed it, that would get rid of the dimming. Should I go back to the three buttons and try to adjust them again? I don't have directions from the manufacturer. Thank you.

Does dimming or flickering of the picture mean that magnetism has built up in the cathode tube, or is the cathode tube getting old or burnt out?

I went to the panel buttons, and then punched the reset for each of the icons on the menu. That restored the display picture to its factory settings. The degaussing did not help the picture, and any stray magnetism is generally automatically degaussed when the computer starts up. As to the flickering of the picture, that is because of the refresh rate. I am using a relatively updated operating system, and the refresh rate has changed somewhat. I also believe the temperature of the computer affects the flickering. I hope this comment helps someone who has a similar problem.

Best regards,

Adjust the video height on MAG lt716s computer monitor

don't worry overly, the shapes of things will be altered as you change the resolution. The main preset resolution s have different
aspect ratios

1920 x 1080 is 1.77/1

1600 x 1200 is 1.33/1

you change aspect ration according to your selected resolution.

Your monitor will have a native resolution at which everything looks normal, .......If you vary from that resolution things will obviously change.

Everything is distorted and elongated

You need to set the PC video resolution to the native resolution of this monitor, 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz for best picture and correct aspect ratio.

You may have to load the driver if you cannot get the PC the let you select this resolution.

No power in the Monitor

Sounds like a fairly drastic fault, possibly in the power supply section. Probably not worth fixing with the cost of new LCD screens, but maybe worth asking at a local repair place.

The problem is that your picture is not of high enough resolution. You need to get a higher resolution picture. There is nothing wrong with the monitor. The picture is distorted because the picture does not contain enough photographic data to scale to the size you are stretching it to. Higher resolution = larger picture without distortion.

Desktop distortion of a Picture

you have to make sure that the picture you want to use as a background has similar resolution to that you are using in your actual display. for example if you are using 800x600 resolution you should have a picture close to that so it doesnt look distorted.

Monitor picture is distorted

This is an indication your monitor is on the way to failure: You can do a "degauss' which is usually powering the monitor off and then pushing the degauss button in and holding it while powering the monitor back on.
