Dishwasher will not start

My Viking DFUD140 just stopped working. The control panel is still lit up, but the buttons for the various settings do not respond when pressed, including the start button. Has anyone seen this problem? Is there a way to reset the unit? Please help!

I have the same problem with the same dishwasher. Have reset and turned off breaker. Odd thing is that if it sits for about a week, it work. Does that give a clue. My guess is something has to dry out or electronics clear. Trying to assess if this 13 yr old dishwasher is worth fixing or should replace. Any advice appreciated!

You can hold the start atop button down for 5 seconds to re set it or you can turn off the circuit breaker to the dishwasher for 20 sec. That should help. If not, it probably is a bad celenoid which a repairman needs to replace

Sounds like you may have the "Child Safety" feature on. Power the dishwasher off then hold down the Normal Temp & Normal Dry at the same time while you power it on. Worth a try, hope it works!

are you sure you have cleaned all the water outlets as when these get blocked and the water builds up the dishwash will go into a standby mode as a sefety precaution to stop your kitchen getting flooded if it was me i would take off all water outlet pipes and use boiling water and a good cleaning fluid it only takes a little blockage and then it will cut off so clean all pipes through properly and then try again is the water going into the dish washer before it cuts off or is their no water going into it either if you post back ill have a nother look for you hope this is some help i had same prob with mine but it was different brand of washer but after cleaning all pipes inlet and outlet it worked fine and is still working now use good limescale remover cause if you live in hard water area then this is probably you problem .......................................................

It's likely that the cheap POS start switch under the button has fallen off the cheesy plastic mounting and the button isn't contacting it. Put it back so the ears on switch are under the slots in the panel and dab a TINY bit of super glue where the tabs go into the panel.

Motor keeps running and we can't operate the dishwasher

Look for water accumulating under the dishwasher. It has a tray that will catch any leaking water before it gets to your floor. If this is the case the most likely cause for the leak is the drain hose (located behind the main pump housing).

No water, sounds normal . might be silenoid switch on inlet valve? vud140 viking dw

could be the water valve silenoid connection clip to the power source has been disconnected, 2) water valve is clogged with debris, 3) water valve silenoid has gone bad. I think one of these three things may be your problem. Good Luck

No power

Hi lushman001

I'm Harvey the Master Plunber.

Your question is: your 3-yr-old dishwasher (Whirlpool 24-inch ) stopped in mid-cycle. A small amount standing water in the bottom of the washer. None of the control panel buttons were lit up and none of them will work. NO POWER

First check all the breakers (or fuses).
Second check the electrical connections. If you're not a qualified electrician or service tech then call one. It"s under the unit behind the kickplate.
