Could be a dozen things, from some kind of tension device that has failed to mis-alignment or over tightening of the belt.

If you look at the broken belt, does one side of the belt show more wear or shredding than the other?

That is misalignment. If something is locking up, the tension device or spring, it could put enough strain to break a belt.

Another overlooked problem and this one happens all the time, the original belt was the wrong belt, and each time the belt was replaced with the same belt, but the wrong belt.

This is another problem that needs a service call as you could check and check, but it will take someone familiar with alignment or the machine to see if there is a missing guide, wrong or broken tension device, the motor is not aligned putting the pulley out of straight,

Tough but great question, could be solved maybe over the phone, but would need someone on the other end with tools and some mechanical skills.

Also need history of the first break, and age, and how this all progressed.

Why does myMaytag de212 dryer keeps breaking belt

You must have installed the belt upside down. Remember the flat part must be to the drum not the ribs. Also assure you don't have a twist on the belt as it can invert during the running of the drum. Good Luck

Dryer wont start

As long as you're sure it is plugged in to an outlet that has power (make sure the breaker is not tripped), there are 2 things that keep a dryer from starting. There is a switch that needs to connect by the dryer door being closed. and there is a switch on the belt tensioner that shuts the dryer off when the belt breaks, and will not allow it to restart until the belt is replaced. Check the drum drive belt to see if it is broken, that is the most likely cause.

Dryer belt keeps breaking

Did you check the idler pulley to be sure it wasn't damaged in some way, like a break in the plastic wheel or metal causing it to cut away at the belt until it breaks

I replaced the Drive belt and two front drum wheels put everything back together and not it goes to start but doesn't click on. Also is the drive belt supposed to sit on the drum very loosely?

the belt is not installed correctly,, some dryers have a switch that shuts the motor and heat off if the belt breaks,, if it is not on the right way it will act like the belt is broke,, double check the belt routing, it should be tight

Beko drvs73w dryer keeps breaking belts. Drum seems to jam at door end and motor contines to melt the belt. The bearings are good . The dryer is only 18 months old. Every time belt breaks when I investigate...

check your drum rollers/glides and your idler arm(it is suggested to change this with the belt), here is a website hope it helps,Tim:

How to install drive belt on kenmore dryer, part #341241

Yank out the filter
remove the filter housing screws
op the top so you can get the front off.
Lift up on the front to keep from breaking the
panel tabs. Get the drum out. Give the old girl a good hoovering. Oil the rollers and idler. The belt must not be twisted or it will be cut in 2 . The ribbed side goes to the drum and I have repair videos photos and a repair manual HERE

How to put a belt on the dryer

Belt Dryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt, and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time. Click here for a belt installation diagram

Drive belt gone slack and worn, now seems too long! Aslo it's frayed. how is it removed and replaced

make a drawing of the loops, remove by pulling it off pully ,you will see a spring tensioner, thats what keeps it tight. also you will see a safety switch that is activated if belt breaks. easy to replace.

My dryer keeps breaking belts this is 2 belts in less than 2 months what is causing this to happen

Check the idler pulley, if not turning freely, the belt may have excessive friction against pulley wheel, overheating and failing. Or dryer drum seals may have failed causing excessive tension on belt.
