My Acer TravelMate 2420 is lacking a Y key and has a difficult U key. I was wondering if it's possible to get new keys for this model? I need the key plus the little cup spring thinger that goes underneath.
If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Possible to replace keys on Acer TravelMate 2420?
What you need to do is go around the pc repair shops with your laptop and ask them if they have any spare parts for the keyboard, this could be a tedious job though and take a while to track any spares. you may end up replacing the whole keyboard, which may work out cheaper in the end

Unfortunately for Toshiba you will need the restore disks from Toshiba. You can go online and purchase the Disks.
1 - Use your old computer to download software so you can retrieve your Windows KEY, unless there is a sticker on your computer that has it printed.
2 - Download a correponding version of windows on the internet and use your key.
3 - After install, you may have to go to toshiba website and download needed drivers.
The blue button (on nearly all notebook computers) is a "Function" shift key. Since space is a concern on portable computers, it is appealing to have each key on the keyboard do "double duty" We are familiar with this, using the SHIFT key, to capitalize and to select the symbols above the numbers on the top of the keyboard (ex. SHIFT/8 is an *)
Similarly, there are blue images on some of the keys that can be accessed by pressing the Blue FUNCTION key along with that key (just like you would use a SHIFT key to select a capital letter). Sometimes, these icons can be a bit cryptic, so consult your manual or Google "Travelmate 3230 keyboard".
Keyboard needs to be replaced. - Go to Acer.com they should have instructions on how to replace the keyboard. Then google this "Keyboard acer travelmate 2420" this should give you some prices for the keyboard. Should be around $24.00
