27R410T 27" TV: our RCA Model 27R410T has maybe 20 hrs of total us...

Ok, well the good news is prize or NOT it is still covered by a warranty, that's the law, you need to contact your local RCA office, and ask them for a referral to an Authorised service center, and you will be able to make a claim, and in any event, that's where you are going to have to take it to be repaired in any event. The Consumer Act, indicates that anything sold must be of "Merchantable" quality, clearly any unit that fails after less than 24 hours use, falls into that definition. You simply have to find a Dealer, Service center, whatever, and in all fairness, they should take care of it, there may be some costs involved, but usually not. Below is a technical Service manual, this is what I use to train the engineers to repair these units, have a look,

the verticle is over amplifying, check the capacitors around that stage.
check if on your verticle you have a pre set to reduce the voltage going to the scan coil.

if you cant do it take that set to a w/shop.

RCA 31" TV pakes high pitched chirping noise

Did you check the Horizontal Output transistor to see if it were shorted, and also check the MOSFET of the switching power supply.

I found chirping noise problem

If your set is an RCA which I believe it is, you can contact RCA to find their part distributor for your area.

How did you determine that these parts are acutaly defective???

When these types of parts are defective, the cause must also be found. When replacing the parts, they will probably fail again unless the underlying cause is found. This will require the proper training, service manual, TV service experience, and the proper tools for troubleshooting.

As for changing the parts, you will require the proper tools and soldering equipment. After all the faults are found and the parts replaced, and the set is working, it is best to verify the power supply performance, the high voltage regulation, and the operating temperature of the various components effected in order to insure reliable after service operation.

TV does not turn on. When plugged into an outlet makes a high pitch noise.

Your problem is a shorted horizontal output transistor C5148 located behind the highvoltage transformer on a heat sink with a clip over it and you can't see the number unless you remove the clip Has to be unsolded and solder in new. Also the highvoltage transformer must be replaced This is the big part with the large red wire coming out and going to the top of the picture tube. Must be unsoldered and replaced with original RCA not get a replacement It has several connections plus three wires to connect to it and I recommend using desoldering brad can get at Radio Shack 5 foot roll. Well as you can see it gets pretty involved. You can't get the parts from most distributors unless you have a business. If he tackles it and has a distributor the parts would run about $50 to $60 and a repairman average should be less than $200 and more than $150 hope this helps. Contact me for any questions you may have. I am more than willing to help.
