Check the PDF file is corrupted or not. Try to open other PDF file in the PDF reader, if it is OK, it seems the previous PDF file is broken. If not, it proves the PDF reader is broken.

Will the PDF reader read other PDF's? if so then the PDF you trying to read has become corrupt
