I believe that the ratchet mechanism is defective or worn. It will need to be repaired.

If it doesn't turn over when you pull the rope it could be in the starter assembly or the flywheel where the starter pawls engage it. If it turns over then you need to check for fuel, spark, air and compression.

Wont spark

If its only two years old there will not be any points on it, the electronic ignitions work off speed of rotation so you need to give it a good crank with the spark plug well earted against the cylinder to get a spark, i would think if you have changed all these parts it will have a spark.

Unless your engine is more that 25 years old (not possible for an Enduro), there are no points. The ignition is solid state, which means that a weak spark will require a new ignition module. Not the end of the world - they're cheap and easy to find.

Change the plug first!

Electric starter will not engage engine on a craftsman LT1000. The starter is turning but just hums . Is there a gear on top of the starter that could be loose. Also can I use a rope to start this model

did you have the battery disconnected? beleve it or not it is possible to connect the battery the wrong way and the starter will just spin the wrong direction. this will cause the starter gear to not engauge with the fly wheel. also on a lawn tractor the battery wont blow up if connected the wrong way.

I have a craftman model 917.270680 that wont move forward or reverse. the pin in the back is engaged. the mower starts and runs fine, and the PTO will engage.

Just because it came off doesn't necessarily mean you need a new, one unless it looks bad. A stick or Sweetgum ball could have flipped it off. Try just putting it back on and see how it does. Easier than dropping the deck and replacing it.

Lawn boy mowers

check for stuck float in the float case youll find a small needle valve which is adjusted.. by the level of fuel when it raise the float the float lifts the neddle up to allow fuel to pass to the intake it may stuck..or check your governer on top of your fly wheel.. if your have a standered carburator with a pump,, that bolts to the side..similer to breggs and straton... their a spring and a short thin rod that opreates the govener..if the spring is streched or the thin rod is bent out it will cause the mower to run high speed....heres a idea,, you know a carbarator. makes a engin run fast or has to have something to adjust the speed on it..start their first..
