LCD not working

If you need them, you can get all the related user manuals/guides from this link; http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=320&modelid=14109 There are a few possible causes for your problem; Faulty LCD screen - check if you can review pictures on it, even if you can't take pictures using the screen. Bad connection - you can try moving the screen into different positions to see if it comes on at any of them - where the connector goes through the hinge is a possible problem site - more likely the connector has come loose at one end or the other. Software problem - Connect the camera to a PC/Mac, and open the "Zoom Browser EX/Image Browser" program. Find the "Set my Camera" window and you should have "reset to factory settings option" (check the software starter guide page 42) You can reset all the camera settings to their factory default value - this has to be worth trying. I would use the warranty - Canon warranty service is usually pretty good - post back with your general area and we can hopefully find you a service centre. Hope this helps :)

The screen is black but it will take a picture. What is the problem?

This sounds like you may have the screen deactivated. Try removing the battery and re-inserting then put camera back on and press the playback button. After switch to record mode and press the up arrows to see if the screen comes back on. If the screen still does not work but the camera still takes pictures and the pictures are actually exposing then the problem is with the lcd. You may need to replace the LCD. If the pictures are also coming out black then the problem is with the shutter inside of the lens unit. Both problems are repairable, but usually are done at Canon Service center. Photo Tech at www.phototech.com is the authorized service center for Canon. I have used them in the past and they are Canon trained.

Good Luck

LCD screen and pictures go completly white

The camera is defective. But as you've only had the camera three months it still is under warranty. Canon is usually very responsive to these type of problems and will bend over backwards to make things right (probably the most responsive of the camera companies).

Call 1-800-OK-CANON to resolve this issue.

Blank LCD screen on shooting mode, but does show settings. Will not take pictures. Replaying mode works, shows pictures taken before screen went blank. New batteries. What is going on??? Is it...

The Display button manually turns the LCD display on or off to save batteries. If you accidentally had turned the LCD off, It should only take one press of the button to turn it back on and leave it that way. As such, it's not you but the camera. The A570 IS is relatively new. Your camera is likely still under warranty. If so, contact Canon for warranty repair (see the following link):

Setting the camera timer

Hi there,
by the way in setting the timer for your camera here is what you are going to do...

-turn the camera on
-set the camera in recording
-press the Right Button beside the menu button (the incomplete circle)
-and then you will see that there will an icon showing in the left side part of the screen of the camera.

Selecting the self-timer
1. Rotate the MODE DIAL to select a RECORDING mode with the exception of VOICE RECORDING mode.
2. Press the SELF-TIMER button until the desired mode indicator displays on the LCD monitor.
A 10 second, 2 second or double self-timer icon appears on the LCD monitor. In Movie Clip mode, only the 10-second self-timer will work.
•2SEC self-timer (icon of incomplete circle with 2S)
: Pressing the shutter button will allow an interval of 2 seconds before the image is
taken.
•10SEC self-timer (incomplete circle)
: Pressing the shutter button will allow an interval of 10 seconds before the image is taken.
•Double self-timer (double incomplete circle)
: A picture will be taken after about 10 seconds and 2 seconds later a second picture will be taken. When using the flash, the 2-second self-timer may be delayed for longer than 2 seconds depending on the flash charge time.
3. When you press the SHUTTER button, the picture will be taken after the
specified time has elapsed.

Turn on camera but the lcd sceen is black

Have you checked the display mode you're in? If you have the display set to off (to save power) and also the picture review time set to off, then you'll just see a black screen. Try pressing the 'Disp.' button below the screen when the camera is on - it should cycle through different settings with each press: Off, On, On with picture info. Similarly, in the playback mode this will show you more or less info about the picture you are viewing.

Even if the display is switched off, if you have your 'review' option in the menu set to anything other than Off (i.e. 2 seconds), then you should see the picture you've taken appear on the screen straight after taking it.

If it's not that, then I don't know the answer....

Dark LCD

Is it possible that you've gone into M (manual) mode and the shutter speed is fast and a small aperture (large number) been selected? Or has the Exposure compensation been adjusted to be -2? Does it do the same thing in fully automatic mode? It certainly sounds like some setting has been adjusted incorrectly.
