Question about Kenmore Refrigerators
Recently the fridge part of our 6 year old Kenmore/whirlpool fridge w/top freezer stopped getting cold. The freezer is still freezing fine but the fridge is almost warm. I've vacumed the coils and fridge and freezer is almost empty so I don't think it's an air circulation problem. Several places on the net suggest possible circulation fan problems. While cleaning I noticed the fan at the bottom back running just fine but I cannot find a diagram that shows me where the other fan is located in the freezer. I would like any DIY repair uggestions and where I can find an online diagram and information. Thanks much for any help
If your freezer is still freezing fine, except for perhaps a slight softening of ice cream. this is a good sign. the second fan you are looking for is located behind the back wall of the freezer, emptying the freezer will gain you access to the screws to remove he panel. you should be able to hear the fan blowing when the freezer door is opened.if indeed the fan is blowing you may have frost building up on the rear panel, this would indicate a defrost problem( unit not self defrosting) and so much frost has built up that the air flow has been restricted to the refrig compartment
