I am not sure if the CanoScan has a retouch program with it, but if you use Windows, you probably have Picture Manager which will let you retouch and resize and crop picture. Right-click the image you would like to open and select open with Picture Manager

Was messing around in my friend's cyber cafe last week (working on building a new cyber cafe monitoring system for his cafe) and found this interesting 'bug' which I thought fellow readers might be interested.
Cyber cafes (or most public machines) normally tend to disable features like right clicks, control panel accesses etc. Just found out an interesting way to gain access to network control (which indirectly allows access to the system's control panel and other features, which I'm sure readers'll figure out easily..)
How? Simply unplug the RS232 cable (otherwise known as ethernet cable). The 'network connection lost' notification pops out, along with the network icon - even when it has been meticulously hidden/disabled. Double click on it and viola! You've just re-gained access to what the administrators have taken from you ;-)
PS: Cyber cafe owners: you might want to try this in your cafe to ensure that your machines are not vulnerable to this simple trick. Pls don't freak out yet though. Am currently working on writing a new cyber cafe monitoring system (for windoze machines at the moment, linux's next on my list) and will make the first version freely available when I'm done :-)
Save your original photos onto the computer. Copy them and rename them in another file. Use these ones to do the manipulating with.
If you have any problems or errors doing the touchups, you will always have the originals to start again.
What's happening is you are changing the original file to the new manipulated one which means the very original photo is no longer there.
Press and hold the "f" for 8 seconds to access the remote programming features. The remote will emit one long beep and the LEDs will illuminate. Press the unlock button to access the remote programming features. Two transmit LEDs will flashes and two beeps indicate the remote programming features are accessed. Press the lock button on the remote( LED on indicates auto locking on, LED off indicates auto locking off). Press and release "f" button to exit programming.
You can use the "blend" or "smear" feature on either GIMP (free) or PhotoShop by Adobe. This basically has the same effect as rubbing your thumb over words on a freshly written page, smearing the adjacent colors to fill in the blank or degraded spots. It's a nice feature to help fill in "blank" spots in images, especially after editing them for concept drawings and such, or enlarging images which are low-resolution.
Be careful with the tool, you can quickly go overboard.
the access code is the number you dial to access an outside line like 9 or 81 etc.
To program a button to access a certain line pool, press feature *3 press the button you want to be the line pool access button then press feature 64 and the pool access code. ex. feature 649 or feature 6481
These Keys may be set as line keys instead of feature access or not tagged as "feature access" in the programming, also you can only have so many feature access keys... 8 comes to mind but I could be wrong, some features can be programmed permanently onto a button in the main programming so you can free up some more feature access (user programable) buttons.
This camera stores EXIF in similar standards of its competitors and can be viewed by most image software. However, there's some fields of proprietary design for each brand so it is better to use the original software bundled with the camera.
