Question about Jenn-Air Ovens

Display for Temp doesn't light up

Our Jenn-air expression W30400 display seems to be burnt out. We can't see the numbers to see how hot the oven is. The oven seems to work. The clock displays right and works, but the right side where the temp. numbers are can't be read. They have been getting dimmer over the last couple of weeks. The last year or two the oven would appear to try to start the self cleaning cycle by itself but would never seem to complete the cycle. Can you suggest repairs options and part numbers that could be ordered to fix this problem.

I looked for the proper part number and wasn't sure what I needed. Looked like it was either 695600 or 695128. Wanted to be sure.

Hi,

- Turn off the oven and unplug it for 15mins.
- Then plug it back,if doest work
- Check the temperature control panel temperature wire. There might be a loose connection.
- If the control panel damage, click this http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SSPartDetail.aspx?PartID=695600&PPStack=1

Good luck...

Hi,

There appears to be several versions of this model. Normally, there would be 1 or 2 letters after the W30400.

Based on your description "getting dimmer over the last couple of weeks" describes a gradual deterioration of a component or a connection. Offhand, I doubt if a component or board is defective, otherwise there would be substantial failure in its operation. I am more inclined to think of a loose connection or corroded terminals/connectors. It might help to perform basic housecleaning as well as spraying some of the terminals, contacts, connectors with a safe electrical contact cleaner.

Should you still would need part numbers, pls reference parts description here, here or here. You would probably be interested with the Power Relay Board (PRB).

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Check to see if there is a short that caused the light to start to dim and the self cleaning cycle to stop half way through. A short or a loose power cord will cause a light to dim and a sensor that may be broke may tell the stove that the self cleaning cycle is complete when it is not. You will need to get that checked by a professional to make sure those are the problems and to get them fixed.

Q - The microwave display counts down and the inside light is on?
A - This most commonly is a bad door switch, other possible problems are a faulty relay or solder joint on the power module, but a bad door switch is most common.

Hate to say this....but probably blew out part of the circuit on the smart board ( the brains behind the key panel you touch ) when the short blew. The light relay on the smart board may have been damaged but 9 out of 10 times when I check them, the board itself is damaged.

Q - When there is small amounts of food in the oven, arcing occurs right behind the plate where the wave guide comes into the oven. Sometimes it works well and sometimes you can't even put in a bag of popcorn. Any ideas? Could food have 'dripped' in here and be causing a microwave short?

A - Yes! Food splatter or drips can continue to cook and will carbon over creating sparks/arcs from the wave guide cover. Usually can clean up the food on and under the wave guide cover, if the oven liner has been damaged we usually lightly sand and touch up those marks with touch paint. Do not let it go for too long as damage to the magnetron end is possible as well :(   If the wave guide cover has been damaged, replace it!

Oven cooks, but nothing on the display. The display is not working. I pulled the front panel but really don't see anything wrong. How do I trouble shoot this? Model W30400

It most probably requires a display driver or display lcd replacement . Both are not so easy to be done at home , So i prefer u to give it for repair to an authorised service personnel .
Thank you

Jenn Air W30400 wall oven does not heat.

Turn off the power to the oven.
Remove the racks.
Remove the BAKE element screws and carefully pull the element out.
Remove the wires from the element, being careful not to let the wires fall back into the oven cavity.
Use a volt meter set for continuity and touch the meter leads to the element terminals.
No reading is a bad element.
Replace the element.
If you do get a reading, the electronic control is bad.

Oven digital lighted display is dim

I replaced the C3 capacitor on the circuit board and works fine. This was mentioned in a prior post and took 5 minutes and was under $5.00 for the part.

No digital display oven works

We own a Jenn-Aire model W27400W oven. The display module has gradually gone dim over a period of several months prior to the end of the warranty, and the display is no longer visible. It is apparent that several Jenn-Aire oven models use the same display. Does Anyone else have the same problem, and If so, are they willing to join a class-action suit against Jenn-Aire with us?
