Dryer wont stay on

My dryer will run when I press the Press to Start, but when I let go, it turns off. Do I need a new Timer or Electronic Control Assembly?

I have a Kenmore gas dryer model 97591220. wont

Disconnect power to the dryer and remove the screws attaching the console rear panel to the console and pull the panel off.

Inspect the wires connected to the timer and ensure a snug fit connection. Clean the connectors and terminals then reseat it several times to ward off dirt within the connectors.

Reconnect power to the dryer and start it; replace the timer (part number 3398195 ) if the dryer still won't stay running. Unplug the dryer and pull the timer knob off the console. Remove the screws securing the timer to the bracket and remove it. Secure the new timer in place then disconnect the wires from the old timer one at a time and connect it to the corresponding terminal on the new timer.

Push the timer back into position on the console and secure the console rear panel in place.

I put a new heater in dryer. but still no heat

I can suggest that you trace the wires from the heating element back to the control timer, There may be a heavy duty relay that turns the heating element on and the contacts could be burned not making contact or the relay coil could be bad this would cause the heating coils not to heat. Also some dryers had these contacts built into the control, If when you press the button to start the dryer and you hear the relay click on it should stay on until you open the door or shut the dryer off, If it is staying on then you may have a bad relay. Also check your fuses as the element runs on 220 and the motors run on 110. If the fuse that is bad is other than the side running your motor you will get no heat.

Control panel looks ok but dryer wont start

Sounds like an electronic problem on the timer circuit board.

Kenmore elite smart sensor model 110.6506 wont run

Many different possibilities. Could be thermal fuse, timer / control, motor. Start switch, or door switch. Most likely need to call service unless you have means to troubleshoot and test parts.

I think my dryer finally stoped

Inspect the start switch and the door pressure switch as well. if both switches check out OK, replace the timer/control device.

Check all fuses and circuit breakers , if they are fine, then the problem is with the control timer. You need to have the control timer replaced.

Press start button but wont stay on

the switch is fine
the switch in all dryers triggers a relay, that then latches and supplies current to motor and heater, until deactivated by door switch or timer switch
inside the control panel,
trace the wires from the start switch to the first device
c27eaf9.jpgmay be opaque.
ensure that the wires are all connected.
if all are connected replace relay
the local part store will have the relay it is common to most dryers
Cant give exact instructions, no experience with particular model
