Paper Jam I was told that you can photo copy on both sides of the paper with the Sharp AR153E, but it frequently jams when I do so. It almost always jams at the fuser assembly. It also jams when I print a lot of pages (10 or more at one time). Technician says that it's the paper, but I use other kinds of paper and it does the same. Also is there anyway to clean the fuser assembly? The black (drum looking thing) has some toner residue from the jams.

    Thanks Checkitright.

Yes it is jamming like an accordion. The technician did not even tell us that the fingers might be the problem. They have been adjusting the temp also because sometimes the toner doesn't fully adhere to the paper sometimes. I was thinking that that could be one of the problems.

The black thing I am referring to is the fuser roller. Sorry I didn't know what it was called :) But it isn't shiny... it's matte. Since we have a contract with Sharp Copiers here I am assuming that they use OEM parts.

If you are getting a lot of jams in the fuser then there is a problem in the fuser unit !
Is it jamming like an accordion? if Yes, then the problem is w/ the little fingers in the fuser, they are worn and need to be replaced. The rollers in the fuser should be shiny and smooth if not they ca also cause jams.
What black thingy are we talking about and where? if it's the fuser rollers ( where the paper exits and gets hot then try cleaning w/reg soap & water rag then wipe off.

No Not necessarily they may be using an alternative generic part most likely Katun, not a bad brand, can last as long as the original. The important thing is it doesn't have scratches or looks like it is worn, the coating has to be uniform and looks ok.

If the toner is not adhere it could be

the Thermistor (controls the heat of the fuser roller),

    defective toner,

moist paper, try crumbling it in your hands does it sound crisp? also bring a sheet of paper to eye level so you are looking at the whole surface of the paper do you see any bubbles or wet spots? (moisture), flip the papers in the tray .

Sharp copier

1) turn machine off or on
2) get a flashlight and look for torn pieces of paper wedged anywhere in the paper path
3) clicking indicates that something is trying to turn but cant because it is stuck
4) dust on a photo sensor
5) broken flag that activated the photo sensor
6) look for turn knobs or release tabs that will let you ease paper out of the machine. Yanking on the sheet with brute force is always a bad idea because the sheet tears and always leaves something behind to get stuck

Can not copy two sided.paper always jam

Check for some obstruction in the paper path where the paper stops. There can also be paper cuts in some of the sensor arms that may be giving hesitation delys csusing the jams. Jam codes in service mode will also help isolate the problem to a more specific area.

The "Paper Jam" light on my Sharp AL-1631 copier stays on

The paper detector on the fixing units have a history of going bad. The fixing unit is the hot roller above the drum inside the right door on the top. As the copy comes thru the rollers the paper hits a plastic lever that is spring loaded and located in the middle of the fixing unit. The sensor is all the way to the right side of the fixing assembly. If you move the lever in the middle you'll see a piece of plastic moving on the right, that piece comes out of the sensor and if can't reset the jam, that piece may not be resetting itself back inside the sensor. This is difficult to try to explain.
Good luck

Sharp AR-287 Copier Paper Jam

most copiers that have lcd screens, should you show you where the paper is. sometimes it may take getting down to look under a couple of guide plates. or just roll some of the rollers to get the paper to come out. all it takes a minute piece of paper to be sitting on a sensor for it to throw the paper jam message.

PAPER JAM

try this
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

Frequent paper jams.

Heavy cardstock and certain types of slick or coated paper can cause frequent paper jams. To better isolate the cause of your problem (machine or paper), try a new ream of regular 20 lb copy or laser paper.
  • Don't Overload
Overloading your paper tray can cause paper jams. Your manual may say that your input tray can hold 250 sheets -- but if you keep getting jams, try loading 225 sheets instead.
  • Check the Paper
Check the minimum/maximum paper weights that your printer can handle. Paper that is too thick, or too thin, can cause jams.
  • If you still get paper jams after this may be its time to clear the internal of the machine..You might want to have a look at the following link..

Copying

You should be able to open the machine up easily and see the jam. It is a very small unit and no plece for the paper to hide. Does the unit use a film ribbon to print from. If so, remove the ribbon to see the jam.
