Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook

1 Answer

Screen goes black and SD-ms (memory card slot) light comes on..

My computer is a HP Dv6000 laptop. About 5 months ago the screen went all crazy, kinda like the matrix, and then I turned it off and when I turned it back on the screen was black and it would turn itself on and off over and over again making a clicking noise. So I left it off for a few days and when I turned it back on it was fine.. So then about a month after that it did it again and it wouldn't work for a month or so because the screen was black. Then it did it again last night but it came back on 5 minutes later but I noticed every time it does it the blue light on the side for the memory card goes on. So I know it has something to do with the memory card slot. Because the light isn't supposed to be on and it's only on when the screen goes black.. I don't have the money to get it checked right now.. If anyone can help that would be great.. Thank you.. Allison

Change the memory chip to another slot or swap two memory chips if you have two memory chips on both slots, see what happened and come back to me again.

un-screw one or two of small cover on the bottom of your laptop, you will see one or two memory chip/s plug in the sockets...better ask computer tech do it for you ..because I don't think you can un-plug and re-plug in the memory chips properly...if you do it not properly you will kill the laptop...

I have a hp pivilion dv6000 when i power on the led lights come on,can hear the fan for a few seconds but screen is black and it powers on and off by itself...also,the SD.MS card light is on and nothing in...

i think your motherboard's graphic chip is having some problem. so you better take it to the servicing center to check the problem. try to place or keep your laptop when use in flat surface to allow air to smoothly flow in and out so that your laptop remains cool.

I have a problems with my hp pavilion dv6000 ,i hear 3 beeps when the laptob star with no display(black screen)

If you are hearing the beeps and the computer is not turning on, it may be an issue with the RAM(physical memory of the laptop). You might have to open the laptop and re-seat the memory cards, check the card in each of the slots to confirm if it is an issue with the slots. Most probably the issue might get resolved by re-seating the memory modules. Or else you might have to replace the memory.

Holes in the computer

Those holes are "expansion slots" that you can use to insert your storage media like your cellphone memory, camera memory cards, so that you can access your pictures files and movies.

Blue screen? Please elaborate.

Moitor went black and will not come on at all

This could for many reasons, the main ones are

  • The monitor light is burned and needs to be replaced
  • The video card slot is fried, the card it self
You can try to get a VGA Cable, connect it from your computer to an external screen, press the "Function Key" + "dual screen key" on your keyboard, if u see the screen then its the monitor lights problem.

else, try to change the video card, its slot

Location of SD port for SanDisk

the hp laptops have a lil small slot on the left side under where the uilt in control goes if yours came with one

its a small thin line

just take your memory card probably sd and yeah its gonna b a lil bigger than the line thats ok its design for several different memory card types

just stick it on the side towards the monitor if it works a lil light should come on

if its a sony memory card u might need a small adaptor that are like a dollar

or if its a sd micro or min u need to get the daptor to turn it into a regular size sd card must memories card will come with those adapters when you buy them

hope this helps

Acer aspire 7004 flash card slot

Your computer doesn't support compact flash cards. Your SD slot is a 5-in-1 card reader, supporting Secure Digital (SD), MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick® (MS), Memory Stick PRO? (MS PRO), xD-Picture Card? (xD). The big slot is for PCMCIA devices.
