Playstation 3 wont play PS3 Games

Playstation 3 wont load any PS3 games for it but will load PS2 games with no problems. So whats wrong with my system?

- yeah thats what i think too. It would be nice if playstation would send me a reply so i can get it fixed.

Im pretty sure you need to replace the laser

Order new blu ray laser online and switch it out yourself with help on the internet. Look up how to replace ps3 laser lens, and you can get photos to help you. I just got my new laser 3 days ago. I switched it out and everything is working great.

Just to update everyone the best solution is the correct one. I replaced the laser and everything is working fine again!

You probably opened your system before and accidentally damaged that hair thin red and black twisted pair. Those wires power the sensor that tells the PS3 to turn on when a disc is inserted or there is something blocking the sensor.

PS3 freezing is one of the symptoms of PS3 hardware errors. Most of PS3 users even suffering red light blinking and machine auto-down when playing games. The reasons may be due to motherboard or hard disk errors. Do you think you can fix them by yourself? Remember, you are not the only one to suffer this problem! Because I had help so many people to fix the same problem now. You are so lucky to be there. I share a guide for you - It make me like a pro to help my friends and many people. It is too expensive to send back to Sony repair if your machine is out of warranty!
I had solved the PS3 yellow / red lights flashing problems after bought this guide. It's Video Guides including hard disk and motherboard repair. Those are really catch your eyes! The author of the book is really kind and helpful to his customers. May be you can buy it and share what you have learned !

I have the same problem it reads DVD's and PS2 games but no blu ray content. I opened my unit and know how to replace the laser and I've cleaned it plenty of times. I'm waiting on my replacement laser now but I am wondering a few things. I see the blu-ray laser light up try to read the disc then the red regular laser come on then try to read the disc then it repeats this process then gives up trying to read the blu-ray. Could this be the controller board and not the laser tho I did notice the blu-ray laser wasn't as bright as it used to be but i'm not sure as the last time i opened it was a while ago.
