Playstation 3 wont load any PS3 games for it but will load PS2 games with no problems. So whats wrong with my system?

Order new blu ray laser online and switch it out yourself with help on the internet. Look up how to replace ps3 laser lens, and you can get photos to help you. I just got my new laser 3 days ago. I switched it out and everything is working great.

Just to update everyone the best solution is the correct one. I replaced the laser and everything is working fine again!
You probably opened your system before and accidentally damaged that hair thin red and black twisted pair. Those wires power the sensor that tells the PS3 to turn on when a disc is inserted or there is something blocking the sensor.

I have the same problem it reads DVD's and PS2 games but no blu ray content. I opened my unit and know how to replace the laser and I've cleaned it plenty of times. I'm waiting on my replacement laser now but I am wondering a few things. I see the blu-ray laser light up try to read the disc then the red regular laser come on then try to read the disc then it repeats this process then gives up trying to read the blu-ray. Could this be the controller board and not the laser tho I did notice the blu-ray laser wasn't as bright as it used to be but i'm not sure as the last time i opened it was a while ago.
