Question about Wild Planet Spy Games Spy Trackdown

Phone stops working after first player

After the first player went and the phone said to "pick up for secret message", the first player pressed enter and nothing happened. The phone stops working at this point. We have started over many times now and the phone stops working at this point every time. The enter button does not work, as well as the other buttons. We have changed the batteries too. It seems to work fine until the first players first turn ends with trying to access the secret message. The phone does not play the secret message and does not work at all after this.

We have the exact same problem and have tried it on two different sets. Everytime the first player tries to access the secret message the phone completely stops working. I hope someone can post a solution other than using this game as firewood.

Same problem with my son's game. I'm wondering why Wild Planet does not have a solution but plan to ask if and when my message gets returned....

    we have the same problem.

  • paulam0207 Dec 27, 2008

The boys were very excited, but are now equally disappointed that they can't play the game. The concept of the game is really cool, but if this problem is as widespread as seems, Spy Games folks should spend more time to work out the 'bugs' before selling the product.

we have the exact same problem with spy phone

  • loflyn92 Dec 29, 2008

My nephew was excited about this cool new game.  I set it up, read the instructions, and was ready to go.  Followed the directions the spy phone gave the first player and then.........it froze up!!!  Late Sunday night no one open to exchange it.  Early Monday, I exchanged it for another game that was equally defective.  Man, are we disappointed.

  • bkmiller524 Dec 30, 2008

    same thing happens with ours!

  • Anonymous Dec 30, 2008

My kids are extrememly upset that this toy isn't working. It is such a cool sounding game, it is unfortunate that noone is able to actually play it. Perhaps a better company will solve the issue and come out with one that is playable.

Same problem with Spy Gear Spy Tracker Game.

The worst part is it was a present from 'Santa' so now my 7 year old is completely sad that he got a broken toy from Christmas.

I'll get my replacement from them if I have to fly to their HQ and protest.

Also "Made In China". There ya go folks. That's the problem right there. When will companies learn? I would have paid an extra dollar or two to have a product that actually works.

  • mumluvsbuni Jan 04, 2009

I have the same problem here (phone stops working after first player never gets secret message) and I exchanged it twice at least at toy r us it was only $5.00. I put a call in about it and Im waiting for a call back. This problem it common to be an accident.

  • joldnews Jan 06, 2009

I have the same problem.  We got one for Christmas and couldn't get the phone to work on the "secret message" phase.  Exchanged the game for a new one and the exact same thing happened.  Anyone know the exact number to call to get the new phone the second week of January?  I have e-mailed the company just now and called and left a message.  However, I left the message on the operator's voice mail, and I have a feeling that's the wrong person.  I am afraid to let it linger too long, as it was a gift without a receipt.  Some stores stop exchanging things like that after awhile.  We hope to get the new phone, however.  Thanks.

  • alex_playfor Jan 07, 2009

Same exact problem. I recieved a replacement phone and it has the same problem! My boys are very upset...I aint too happy either.

  • Anonymous Jan 16, 2009

I have bought 3 and returned the game 2 times (all with the same exact problems as everyone else). Also left messages with company on voice mail and e-mail. Has anyone actually heard back from the company? I'm reluctant to return 3rd game if company will actually send replacement phone, but I will certainly do so if they can't be bothered to help customers.

  • Anonymous Jan 19, 2009

Wild Planet has a recorder voice that states the new shipment of the phone has the same problem. They are working on it and will send you a new phone "if" they get it fixed. They are offering replacement products. Just listen to their customer service.

    As per their website:

Q: Parents: Having trouble with your Spy Satellite Phone?

A: Please contact customer service at 1-800-247-6570 or send us a message.

Wild Planet is sending out corrected versions of the game.  Ours just arrived tonight.  We haven't played it yet, but hopefully it works.  You can go to the Wild Planet website and fill in your information on their customer service page, or you can call.  I think I did both.  A real person e-mails you back, which is such a blessing.  The people I dealt with were very helpful and anxious to get us a good copy of the game.
I didn't have to send back the old phone from the game.  They said they'd send a new phone but sent the whole game.

I'll assume the game works.  If it doesn't, I'll let everyone know.

Wild Planet sent us an entire new game, and the phone works perfectly.  The game is a lot of fun!

In order to get the new game, I called Wild Planet and left my contact info, and I also got on their website and filled in their form.  A real person contacted me back and arranged for me to get a new game.

It's a fun game -- my son loves it, and my husband and I had fun playing it with him.  I recommend going through with the process and getting the new game.

I called & emailed Wild Planet directly and after several days of no response, I spoke with a real human being at the switchboard today. No apology just the excuse that they have been swamped with calls. Hmm... seems if you sell junk toys for $35 you get inundated with consumer calls on your customer service line. He knew right away that the phone for the Spy Tracker game is defective and said he would get someone to call me back today so they could send us a new phone. We'll see......Walmart.com had clearanced the game for $5.00!!! but it's sold out. I guess they want it out of their inventory due to the high return rate. Too bad, the game looks fun and my kids ask everyday if it's fixed yet. I suggest you call Wild Planet at 800-247-6570 to see if they will send out a working spy phone for the game. I am still waiting for my return phone call.......Please post any new info if you hear anyway to fix the problem.

    Update to Solution Post:

I did get a call back from Wild Planet Customer Service. They said I could return to a local store for an exchange and see if that spy phone works or they would email me a Fed Ex pre-paid postage form and if I would send back the broken phone they would send out a new one. I opted for the new phone since it seems like our chances of getting a working phone in a game at a store is pretty low. The Customer service woman said that the phones have a short in them and that a new shipment of phones would be coming in the 2nd week of Jan. She would send us out a new phone providing they had received our defective one back. I received the email about 10 minutes after we completed our call so tomorrow we will mail back the bad phone and then wait for the new one. Will update when we get a working phone.

  • rmalley123 Jan 23, 2009

Now the company called yesterday (after waiting 3 weeks for a new phone) saying they don't know if they will ever get the phones working so would I like a free Wild Planet game? They gave me 2 options and said that if the phone issue is ever resolved they will send us a new one. Looks like we will never get to play Spy Trackdown...

  • rmalley123 Feb 09, 2009

We got our replacement phone on Friday. We played the game on Sat night. There was a small glitch with the phone on the gold agents turn that happened a couple of times but we could still play. The game lasted almost 90 minutes and we all really enjoyed it. My 7 yr old (his game) ended up winning just when I thought to find the mastermind might be too hard for him. We all really enjoyed the game and will definitely play many more times this winter. I'm glad Wild Planet sent us the new phone!

I have lost instructions for playing uno flash

Requirements
  • 2 to 6 players
  • An Uno Flash playing unit
  • An Uno Flash card deck
Setup
Shuffle the deck and deal 7 cards face down to each player. Place the rest of the deck aside.

On the underside of the unit, set the turn timer switch to the desired length--this can be 4, 6, or an infinite amount of seconds (designated by the infinity symbol). Beginners may find that 6 or the infinite amount of seconds may be most appropriate. Switch the power to "1" or on, also found underneath.
Place the rest of the deck in either of the basins in the unit. This will be the draw pile. Flip one exposed card into the empty basin as a starter card.
Once the unit has been powered on, each player participating must press one of the 6 red buttons found around the circumference of the unit. A player should pick the one closest to them to avoid confusion with other player's buttons. These buttons will designate each player's turn for the remainder of the game.
Press the small yellow "Play/Pause" button to start the game.
Play
Immediately, players will notice a random selection of one player. This player will be designated by the lighting and flashing of their button. Note that there is no uniform turn order; the device picks a player at random each turn, including the same player of the last turn.

At this point, the chosen player must make a play based on the most recently exposed card. To make a play, a player will either discard a card into the exposed basin on the unit, draw cards from the draw pile, or may be skipped. These plays vary with each type of card, and will be explained.
Once a play has been made, that player must tap their red button to complete their turn. Plays must be made before a player taps their button.

If a player fails to make a play before their time is up, their play must be forfeited and that player must draw 2 cards. That player cannot discard for this turn. Players will know when a player has not made a play in their allotted time when their button is flashing and an alarm sound is emitted from the unit. Plays must be made before a player taps their button. Once the player has drawn their two cards, that player must resume play by pressing their red button.
Card Types and Sequencing
As with most types of Uno games, cards may only follow one another if they match in color and/or number. Special cards such as slap, skip, and draw cards may be played after the same type of special card or a card of the same color. For instance, a player may play a blue skip card after a yellow skip card. Normal cards may be placed after special cards if they match in color. Wildcards may be played at any time.
The following section explains the types of cards found in Flash Uno:

  • +2 draw card
Indicates that the next player chosen must draw 2 cards and may not discard.

The next player may avoid drawing two cards by placing another +2 (or +4) card during their turn. In this case, the cards to be drawn are delegated to the next player, unless of course, they also play a draw card. For instance, if two +2 cards are played in a row, the next player must draw the total of 4 cards.

  • Slap or hand card
When a player plays a slap card, he or she should not press their red button to complete their turn. Instead, after placing a slap card in the basin, that player should press the yellow "Uno" button on the unit. This will start a race between the other players.
After the "Uno" button has been pressed, the other participating players must race to tap their red buttons. The last player to do so will be indicated with a flashing red button. This player must draw 2 cards, and press their button to resume play.

  • Skip card
A skip card indicates that the next player chosen may not discard a card. They are skipped from their turn. The skipped player must press their button to resume play.

  • Wildcard
A wildcard may be played on top of any card. Once discarded on to the exposed pile, that player must verbally designate a new color for the next turn.

  • +4 Wildcard
A variant of the wildcard and the +2 card, this card allows the discarding player to specifiy a new color and require the next player to draw. Since the next player is only picking up cards, the new color must be played by the following player.

  • Normal Numbered Cards
Normal numbered cards are the most common card, and do not require any special actions to be taken by other players.

Win Condition

Players may win the game by becoming the first to discard all of their cards.

Before winning and when a player has only one remaining card, that player must continue in typical Uno fashion and say "Uno" to the other players. This should be done immediately after discarding one of two remaining cards. If another player notices and says this first, the player with one card must draw 2 more cards in penalty.

Strategy

New colors after wildcards should be chosen based on the discarders most common color.

Other Features and Information

Players may pause the game at any time with the small yellow "Play/Pause" button on the unit. This can be useful when one or more players cannot play for a small amount of time, such as a phone call.

You can evaluate how much time is remaining in a turn based on the rotating yellow lights on the unit. Each revolution indicates 2 seconds. For example, with a 6 second turn time, the lights will oscillate 3 times.

hope this help..... enjoy the game.....

My Sister's kid tough music player is showing an exclamation mark...reset would do it, batteries would do anything...what can I do?

I found this on another post:
"I had a error close to that one. It was a picture of the player with a flashing exclaimation. I couldn't do anything with the player. It was frozen. I plugged it into the computer and no results. I changed the batterys and got no results. I found the software and hooked it up to the computer again. It said there was a software update. I followed the prompts and it worked. The music player was back to normal. So those of you that have this player MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE SOFTWARE!!!"

After reading the post, I went to www.fisher-price.com/kidtough/ re-downloaded the software and installed/launched it but didn't get any updates. So I disconnected the player but left the Fisher-Price software running in the background and started doing other stuff. When I went to shut down my computer, I was about to shut down the Fisher-Price software when I noticed the message prompt "THERE IS AN UPDATE TO THE SOFTWARE, WOULD YOU LIKE TO DOWNLOAD IT"
I was so excited to see the prompt and I hit OK. It told me to connect the player to the computer before starting so I did and it automatically did an update. It appears to be working now! Sure hope this doesn't happen again!

Old question, but in case anyone else has the same problem, it is because you are not in an area that is well lit enough. Light has to enter into the right number of holes so the photocell 'knows' which page you are on. Make sure to review all the pages from the start as well because if the right page is not recognized, you can end up with your voice not matching the text.
