Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Samsung HL-S5688W. Lamp blew up last February. I left the tv alone until Nov. 4, when I replaced the tube and turned it on to watch the election results. Have been watching it since then, and the sound only comes out of one speaker and is not so loud, even when I turn up the volume a lot (like in th 70-85 range). I checked the balance and it was OK. Any ideas? Thanks! Kevin in PA

One or both of your audio amps is damaged and in need of repair. OR you could connect the audio outputs to your audio receiver and use set that way. That is what I have done. sounds much better also!

SOURCE: Samsung HL-r5667w TV shuts down on its own.

You may have a colorwheel going bad. The bearings start going out and this is an indication of the failure. The colorwheel is located in the light engin e therefore you may want to get a qualified tech to look at it

SOURCE: installed new lamp/how to reset the lamp hour meter on samsung (HL-S4666W)

Here is the procedure for resetting the lamp timer.

This is a quick reference guide to show you how to reset your Samsung DLP TV’s lamp hour meter or hour counter. Resetting the counter is a very simple procedure.
Begin with the TV powered off.
Point your remote towards your TV.
Press:
Mute + 1 + 8 + 2 + Power.

Your TV set should now say “Loading Factory”.

Browse down to “Option” then press Enter (or the right cursor button).

NOTE: The Mute+1+8+2 buttons needs to be pressed down consecutively and fairly quickly. If your TV does not enter the service menu after using this combination, you can substitute MENU instead of MUTE. This seems to work for some sets. Also, the right cursor arrow also acts as the ENTER button, so try it if you’re having difficulty with the ENTER button.
To exit the service menu, hit press the EXIT button or just turn off your TV (remember not to turn on your TV immediately afterwards!).

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

My tv turns off

Power issues (Tv True True (``````````` (``````````` 0 95250 95250 clip_image002.gif not turning on) were typically due to faulty ballast. While the TV reports a bad lamp it is the ballast itself causing the issue. Samsung True True (``````````` (``````````` 0 95250 95250 clip_image002.gif is well aware and will replace both the ballast and the lamp (since the lamp can be prematurely aged but the bad ballast). After replacment most people stop having issues.

It sounds like your lamp is going bad. The lamp part number is listed as "lamp code" on a sticker located on the left side of the set. Use this number to grab a replacement off ebay.
