Try to reset it again. Hold the button in for at least 10 seconds and release it.

Add netgear73 router PPPoE to add network name and wireless key?

Assuming you already have a modem/router on your network and you are simply trying to add a wireless network, you will need to
set up the Netgear router to act as a wireless access point. To do this you need to connect a computer directly to one of the Ethernet (not WAN) ports on the back of the router. Access the router using its IP address (usually 192.168.1.1). Login using the userid and password of the router. First you need turn off the DHCP function of the router. This will make it a slave to the existing router. YOu will also need to change the router IP address to a static value. It is recommended you use a high number to avoid IP conflicts such as 192.168.1.210. You can then go to the wireless setup and set your network name (SSID) and password. Once you have done all that you can save and log out of the router. Disconnect the PC from the router and connect the Netgear router to the existing router using Ethernet cable. Use one of the regular ports on the existing router, and run the cable to one of the ports (not the WAN) of the Netgear router. You may have to reboot both routers to get initial communications established. Once you have them talking, the existing router should receive wireless requests from the Netgear router and assign IP addresses to the devices attaching to the Network.

How to check the wireless settings on your Linksys router

Do you need to know the wireless settings configured in your Linksys wireless router? This tip will you do this, I will show you how this can be done.

First, why do we need to know the wireless setting of your router?

Here are a few reasons why we need to know all of these:

  • We need to know the wireless settings if we wan to add a computer to the wireless network that you already have.
  • If we want to add a wireless devices like, wireless gaming adapters for your gaming system like Xbox.
  • You will also need to know the wireless settings of your network if you want your mobiles phones and other gadgets (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad,etc.) to get online through your wireless network.
What are the things we need to verify off of your router setup page? Here they are:
  • SSID - Wireless Network Name
  • Channel
  • Type of Security
  • Security code or password if there is one enabled.
Here are the steps on how this can be done:

  1. In your computer that is connected to the router, open your browser and type or copy and paste this link to the address bar http://192.168.1.1then hit return.
  2. A login box will pop-up asking for a user name and password. Just leave the user name field blank and type admin in the password field.
    Note:
admin is the default password, if you can't login using the default password, you might have likely changed it during the initial configuration of your router.
  3. Once you are in the router Setup page, click on the tab at the top that says Wireless. In this page, you can get the following information.

    • Wireless Network Mode - This setting will allow you to choose if you want different types of wireless connection can be accepted by the router, you can choose B, G or Mixed. I recommend you leave it to Mixed.
    • Wireless Network Name / SSID - This is the field where you can put in the name you want for your network. The name you will set here will the name that your router will be broadcasting. By default your router uses the name "linksys". Imagine if the rest of your neighbors has the same brand of router.
    • Wireless Channel - This is the channel or frequency your router is operating on. This can be changed if you are having intermittent issues with your wireless network.
    • Wireless SSID Broadcast - This is one setting that is worth checking. If this is disabled, your router is still operating but the name of your network will be hidden. It's recommended to leave it enabled.

  4. Then click on the sub-tab under the Wireless tab that says Wireless Security. In this page, you will be able to verify the following information about your wireless network security.

    • Security Mode - By default this is set to Disabled. And these are the common security type used or enabled in a small office, home office netowrk.

    • WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) - If this is the type of security that is enabled in your router, you need to look for the "Default Transmit Key" or "Default Tx Key" this will tell you what key you need to use from the list of keys available. See image below for reference.

      beb23b5.jpg

    • WPA Personal (WI-FI Protected Access) - if this the security that you will see, you need to take note of the "WPA Shared Key" this is the password for your wireless netowrk. You can change this any time, and it should be a minimum of 8 characters. Note: If you change your password for the wireless, you wireless computer and other wireless devices that were able to connect fine prior to changing the password, may need to be reconfigured or reconnect and use the new password.

The wifi connection is really bad since a few days, i can navigate however I have "cuts" (the connection is never lost) like if i had lost the connection, also i can't see any video on...

Your Wifi connection may have nothing to do with the 'performance' problem you are experiencing:
You can try to isolate the issue by plugging your Laptop/PC directly via a cable to your router and re-run the youtube video to compare it against when you are connected via Wifi.
I suspect that like most of use using ADSL that your 'effective' connection speed may be 'variable' (especially during heavy off-peak/free quota periods) and the guilty party.
To investigate the issue, run a performance test such as:

www.speedtest.net

The results might reveal performance issues (compare your results on good periods and bad periods as well as 'typical' for your ISP).

Rebooting to 'recycle' your modem/router might also help.

Hope it helps and good luck.

I have a U.S. Robotics USRobotics USR5461 Wireless router

heres the online installation manual http://www.usr.com/support/5461/5461-ug/index.html
see configuration tab - You will not be prompted to login the first time you connect to the Web User Interface during the initial setup. During the Setup Wizard procedure, you will be prompted to create a user name and password to log on to the router. If you create a user name and password, you will need to use these whenever you want to log on to the Wireless MAXg Router. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
------------- so if you cannot remember the username and password - you will need to reset to fsactory condition and reset all the settings in the router for it to work with your ISP again
the reset button is on the back - RESET Button: To restore the factory default settings, use a paperclip to press in and hold the RESET button for five to ten seconds. If the RESET button is pressed for less than five seconds, the Wireless MAXg Router will reboot.

Need to secure wireless connection

1. Connect the computer to your Wireless router then using the internet explorer access the router gui 192.168.1.1abd7975.jpg 2. It is extremely important that you change the password for your router. Select a strong password using numbers and letters. This is the password that you will use to login and configure your router after this initial setup. 61e656e.jpg+
79ee205.jpg 3. Select a unique name for your wireless network. The name of your network is known as the SSID. This is what wireless users will use to identify which router and network they connect to. 94c0abe.jpg

How do u use other pcs on it

Are we talking about wired and wireless computers alike? You don't actually need to use a linksys disk to have them all setup. Do you at least have one computer connected to the internet through the router? If so, just physically connect all computers that are going to be wired, and they should be able to automatically get online. As for the wireless computers, do they all have wireless adapters already? If yes, make sure that they can see the router (If using Windows XP/Vista, you will see a wireless icon on your system tray. Click on it and a list of available wireless networks should be displayed. Look for "linksys" or any name that you might have used when you were initially setting up the router. Highlight and click connect. Unless you have encryption enabled on the router, wireless computers should be able to get online automatically.
