Dell AIO 924 Carrier Jam Problem

Hello, I have a Dell AIO 924 Printer. Today I got my new cartridges, I opened the cover and the carriers did not come to the center, I manually brought them to the center and opened up the carriers....however my color carrier top POPPED off, meaning I opened it, it was open and out of now where the thing pops off and falls inside the printer. I took off the spring, put in the new cartridges and then closed the tops, I shut the printer and hit the start button. After that....I heard a loud clank noise, I looked and I saw the carrier had gone from the left to the rigt and hit the other side (sounded pretty hard), I look in the error section and it says "clear carrier jam", I bring the carrier to the center, pop it open and i see nothing wrong with it, any help?

    Ok update....I found out whats wrong......the encoder strip came UNDONE....can I reattach it? If so, how?

    I have the same problem, look like the encoding plastic strip came off , after hearing some lod left to right banging sounds comming from my printer...please help as I am in need of a printer and since this one is only 1 year old I hate to have to buy a new one so soon.

To clean the encoder strip, perform the following steps:

  1. Power down the printer and unplug the power.

  2. Lift the cover on the printer.

  3. Using a dry, lint free cloth, pinch the encoder strip on the right-hand side of the cartridge carriage and pull your fingers across it toward the right-hand side of the printerDell AIO 924 Carrier Jam Problem - 99d8177.jpg

  1. Plug in the printer and power it on.

  2. Open the cover to allow the cartridge carriage to center itself.

The 2200 error message indicates a scanner stall or jam. The steps below will help you to resolve the issue and clear the error message.

Step1.
Power off the All-In-One (AIO) and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds. Then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on.
Did the error message return?
Yes:
Continue to step 2.
No:
Attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.

Step2. Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the scanner cover. Check the scanner glass for cracks and the scanner casing for cracks. Close the scanner lid. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. Remove both cartridges, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.Did the error message return?
Yes:
Continue to Contacting Lexmark.
No:
Continue to step 3.

Step3: Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. Insert the color cartridge, close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power on the AIO.
Did the error message return?
Yes:
Repeat step 3 with another color cartridge. If the printer fails again, continue to step 4.
No:
Repeat step 3 and install the black/photo cartridge. If both cartridges are installed, attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.

Step4: Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. Remove the color cartridge and insert the black/photo cartridge. Then close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on.
Did the error message return?
Yes:
Repeat step 4 with another black/photo cartridge. If the printer fails again, continue to Contacting Lexmark.
No:
Install the color cartridge. If the printer fails, continue to Contacting Lexmark. If the error message does not appear with both cartridges installed, attempt a test scan. If the error message does not reappear, the error is resolved.

The top of my ink cartridge had fallen off and was in the printer... I hadn't seen any paper or anything and was completely stumped, when I picked it up and heard something in there... It was hard to get back on, but now it works!

i had the same problem and i'm almost positive it's because i do not have a color ink cartridge in my printer. i called the technical support and they said that both ink cartridges have to be in the carrier for the printer to work. even if one of them does not have ink in it. hope this helps. (for me too)

Carrier jam on dell 924 printer??


I was able to fix this issue on my all-in-one 944 printer. What happened was that one of the ink cartridge lids had popped open. The hard part was that the carrier was stuck on the far left side, and I wasn't able to pull it over for easer access. However, I was able to fit a finger in and push the cartridge back down. Then when I turned the printer back on the error went away.
