Pilot won't stay lit. Robertshaw thermostat for gas log - 1 yr old. Worked fine last season. Turned off for Summer. Will not work this fall. Will hold down pilot for full 60 sec. Pilot lights quickly, good blue flame, but will extinguish as soon as I release the pilot valve. Installed neww thermopile. No change.

It worked fine in AC mode but when we tried to turn on the heat it wont heat

wow what a question. Is it gas, electric, heat pump, oil fired? Is it in your basement, trailer closet, or on the roof? How old is it? If you did seasonal maintenance like changing the filter in the blower compartment you may have left the blower door loose. If it has been made in the last 20 years the draft inducer may not want to begin spinning after sitting all summer. If its older maybe the pilot light is out and a thermocouple needs to be replaced. Its the best I can do without more information. Hope this helps, good luck.

My Majestic DVR36RN gas-log fireplace insert will not start. No ignition when striker is depressed, no flame lit at all. Gas inlet line open, pilot switch to "pilot" as directed. Maybe...

Majestic DVR36RN: Here's what you need to do: Verify gas line is open. (You said you already have done that). Next turn the switch to pilot (you said you did that too). Make sure wall switch is on also. Now press and hold the pilot switch and hit the ignitor. Once it lights you need to continue to hold the pilot switch for roughly 1 minute. Release the knob and the flame should stay lighted. Now, turn the knob to on. You should be all set now.

Gas furnace does not work

Simple things first. Is the gas turned on? Some furnaces have a gas line fitting to shut off during summer months. The gas valve should line up in the direction of the gas line. Two: is the pilot lighting. Can you see a flame? It may also have an electronic igniter. When it comes on you should see a glowing hot stick or something similar in the pilot viewing hole. If you have a combination valve for you pilot. You must first turn it to pilot, hold it in and light it manually. Hold that button in until the pilot stays lit, then trun it to "on". If the thermostat is in the "heat " position and the thermostat is set to call for heat by turning the emo up higher than the current room temperature, the main flame should come on. Otherwise something complex is wrong with your system

Cozy wall heater working intemittently

Sounds like a limit switch is tripping.
This appliance is equipped with a manual reset blocked
flue switch designed to protect against a blocked flue condition,
which would cause combustion products to spill back into the
living quarters. NOTE: A partially blocked, inadequate, or
disconnected vent system may not activate the switch.
Discoloration of the grille is an indication of a bad vent. If this
occurs, the vent can be checked by a qualified serviceman using
a draft gauge. After 15 minutes the gauge should read between
-.02 up to -.04 inches w.c. Vent must be checked at the
beginning of each heating season.

Rheem gas furnace pilot lights, but no burners or fan

If the burners do not fully ignite, the sensor will shut the furnace down. The lack of sufficient burner flame is a gas valve or gas pressure problem within the valve.
Replacing the gas valve with the original one may get you going. I surely suggest a professional service company for safety reasons and a thorough inspection. A 20 year old furnace is past it's normal life span.

We have a 30+ yr old Ultra-Aire wall heater. The pilot light won't stay lit. We are replacing the pilot generator but it isn't working. What can you tell us about the wiring connections

You need to replace the thermocoupling.
Thats the flame sensor, and they cost around 8 bucks.

If the gas valve does not recieve signal from the sensor that there is flame it shuts down all gas flow.

1986 Weathermaker SX 150 series, model S85X060-CC-1

There are 4 -steps for full run time to kick in a furnace.. step-1, inducer fan runs & prove thru the air tube which closes a switch and tell the circuit board to go to step-2, the igniter lights the pilot & prove its lit by heating the thermocouple, which tells the circuit board to go to step-3, opens the gas valve to dump gas in, which will light from the pilot light, and prove by a flame sensor metal stick on the last burner , which heats up and tell the circuit board Saying, ok , I've got flame.. step-4. when the box heats up, it closes a switch and turn on the main fan...! (Some gas-valves has a brain -or circuit board on top of them and are real sensetive to moisture..)
