Question about Denon Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have a Denon 2308CI. I use the 7.1 suround. I have my sony STR DE995 to use as a second amp for zone two hook up. My goal is to watch a movie in the living room and listen to the radio or any other audio in two other rooms of the house. But some times I want to listen to the radio in all the rooms. I read the manual for the Denon a 100 times, I just couldnt get what I wanted. What is the best way to connect the units and the speakers for the two other rooms?

The mani surround room should be connected to the front speakers A, Center, sub pre-out and surround.
for the other two rooms connect them to surround/back, go into settings and in power amp assignment assign the surround back speakers to the multi room.
once this is complete with your remote in the zone2 control mode you can play your sources in zone2 and control the volume also, if you have inwall volume controls set the zone2 volume to -10 and use the room controls.
To listen to the same source in both zones you will have to select that source in both zones

My Denon AVR2308 is frustrating me. I am running two zones (5.1 in main and zone 2 out of rear surround). I have made the audio setting to allow Zone 2 on/off, but i am stuck on how to turn sound off in...

Greetings,
Unfortunately the AVR2308 does not have the zone 2 video output connector needed to pass video to a second zone. The AVR2808 was the first receiver in that year lineup to offer a video output to a second zone. There are many different types of video outputs on that receiver, but they are all associated with the Main zone. This is why you loose the video when you shut down the Main zone. With respect to your Zone 2; the small remote that came with the receiver should have all the power and volume features you need to operate Zone 2 while keeping the Main zone turned off. The only audio that can be passed to Zone 2 though has to be in an analogue format (using the red and white RCA connections). This receiver does not pass digital audio onto Zone 2. Best of luck!

Zone 2 will not play the dvr the dvr plays on the main zone other inputs play on zone 2

make sure you are using a parallel analog cable if you have it connected with HDMI or a Digital audio cable. Digital signals do not get passed to zone 2...make sure analog cable is to the right DVR input on the Denon.

My 2003 STR-DE995 goes into "PROTECTER" mode

hi roy for starters hooking up more then 1 speaker to 1 input makes the total impedance higher\lower then the reciver "sees" there for u r causing the amplifier work hard and warm it up for no reason attach each speaker to 1 inlet look on the speaker for level of resistance (4 Ω, 8 Ω) and adjust the reciver for that level in that inlet if u want morn power ull have 2 connect the 2 amps in line as you sed, although the Bedini is "old-school" im sure it will do just fine and then u can crash ur whole house down from endless power... its difficult to say without any parameters what kind of connection will be the best result, so just try them all and see what u like the best keep in mind that loud music is hearting ur ears and if ull keep up this way ur wont be able to hear your child not to say when you will b older.... good luck windman
