Question about Computers & Internet

I just bought an aspire one laptop but despite the fact that i have an internet connection my IE browser is not working; neither is my firefox which i installed later. All settings are consistent with my other laptop which works fine. my network connection are solid and my wi fi light is on. why aren't my browsers working?

    Thank you. That is a good idea and I had already tried that. Its worked for me before but not this time.
    Sorry. Internet connectivity isn't the issue per se rather its the browsers (IE and Foxfire) that won't browse even in their default settings. It leads me to suspect that the problem(s) may be related to the XP OS or its settings.

    The unit is brand new just out of the box. Fortunately there is nothing of consequence on the HD
    and it comes with its own image for HD restoration. I've emailed acer and failing an adequate response
    that may in fact be an option. The other would be to take it whence it came post haste!!

    It's an annoyance more than anything.

All you have to do is reset the modem, remove the power suppy for 15 seconds plug it back in and give it a minute to reset, then you should have internet connectivity.

    try a system restore, take it back to a date before the problems started, this may sort the problem out

    you are well within your rights to have the machine sent back if its brand new, let the warranty sort the problem for you or give you a replacement.
    It should not have been given to you in this state in the first place, but it does happen

Wifi internet connected, internet explorer will not load web page


Get a new internet browser, download Firefox from here:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/latest/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%2031.0.exe

Then make sure your computer time clock is correct, you can adjust the time and date by right clicking on the clock and then read the rest.

If that doesn't work you need to check your wifi router, you might need to unplug it for 1 minute then plug it back in.

If that doesn't work you need to check your Proxy settings in Internet Explorer. Do this by opening IE, then go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > Uncheck all boxes then click Apply/Ok and exit IE and try again.

Just use Firefox, it is much better than IE, for many reasons.

Since I bought my new Acer Notebook. I had not problems with internet explorer. Then all sudden, it will come on like it is going thru. But never does. It won't let me into Bing, Google or MSN. at all....


Do you have a different browser you can use such as firefox or google chrome? Does it work? if it work, then it is definitely an issue with the IE. What you can do is to reset it to factory settings.

Open IE, select Tools>Internet Options> Advanced
On the Advanced tab, just click on reset then apply. It will ask you to close IE. Just do and reopen it. It should work..

What version of Windows are you running? If it's Vista you can do a windows update from the control panel and see if this fixes it. You can also attempt to reinstall the most recent service pack. If you have access to another computer download to a CD or USB stick and install FireFox and/or Google Chrome browser. This will make sure you always have a browser available when IE gets horked.

Also, try running IE without addons. The location of IE with no addons varies depending on which version of Windows you're running.

When trying to connect to internet it comes up with last firefox session closed unexpectedley - restore or start new session but i have tried both sessions and they dont do anything.


Please re-install the Firefox Browser again as your Firefox has been corrupted. Download the latest version of Firefox from here. You can use other browsers also like IE(Internet Explorer), Google Chrome, Opera, etc.

Acer Aspire One connected to internet browser will not open


This happens if the browser is corrupted. I would suggest you to upgrade your browser from Microsoft website which is free ware. Currently IE 7 seems to be a better one. There are also Firefor and Google Chrome (Comparitively faster than IE and Firefox).

I can open internet explorer, but my weather and skype programs are working normal, I know I have a god connection, also when I try to access the internet options to change my browser it just blinks then...


As of December 31, 2005, Microsoft no longer provided support for Internet Explorer for Mac.

As a result, Microsoft recommended all users of IE for Mac, use either Safari, or any other 3rd party, Mac compatible browser. Here are 3 of the more popular made for Mac browsers, widely used with Macs as well as Safari 4.0:
  • Firefox for Mac v3.6
  • Camino for Mac v2.0.1
  • Opera for Mac v10.10
All of these browsers are free downloads and are easy to via Google or any other web search engine you like to use.

Because you should have Safari built in, I would recommend you access that web browser, by going into Finder > Applications> Safari and launching that web browser.

This should enable you to continue surfing online, despite the IE setback.

I can't Browse in Mozilla Firefox...It says it might be prevented by firewall or proxy.But I can't fix it.


Do you have IE installed. I highly recommend having more than one browser installed. try browsing with IE...if you can get online then the problem is with Firefox....

How do you connect to the Internet? Check network connections in Control panel..make sure your preferred connection profile is enabled.

Internet explorer not working


Check whether your internet connection is working properly or not. To check this ping to your DNS Server of your internet service provider. If you get a reply from the DNS Server then the problem is with your browser, if so then install another browser like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. If you dont get a reply from DNS server contact your ISP and resolve the Issue with them.

Acer aspire 5515 how to connect to internet


check if you have got an internet connection:

try windows update, if windows can access its automatic updates on the microsoft-homeserver,
then it is a browser issue

if so, come again stating: Operaion System used, how connect to internet(dsl, wifi, modem etc.)
and the browser (firefox, internet xplorer, which version, etc)

if not, do same. see you
