Question about Washing Machines
Everything seem to work except on the spin cycle. It drains fine but then doesn't spin.
The motor runs (I can hear humming and the lid shakes a bit) but it doesn't spin on the inside anymore (eg: opening lid at different times shows clothes in exactly the same configuration). The tub can be moved if moved by hand (and the springs still pulls it back to the center).
About this model (I could provide photos if someone tells me how to upload to this site):
-Top load portable washer
-8 years old
-The "console" is at the front of the unit (and not in the back as I've seen on most pictures on this site)
-Putting it on its side reveals the following:
--There is no "panel"/sheet of metal blocking my view of the interior.
--It has a belt so I'm thinking that the motor is NOT directly connected to the transmission.
--I can manually spin things and other things spin such as the belt and agitator (Not sure about the name but its the thing in the tub when looking from the top of the washer).
--The white-ish round plastic parts seem to be in good condition (no broken "teeth").
Your drive coupler is broken. It is the rubber piece between the transmission and the motor. This is what makes your washer spin. You can change this by taking the 2 screws out of the control panel and then flipping it back. Next pop the 2 brass clips holding on the case and pull the case off the machine. Next lay the washer back and pull off the pump and the motor. You will see how to get it off and on from here.
