No scan options msg when I try to scan

I have been able to scan using my 7310 all in one until I lost power. Now I cannot scan. The msg reads install hp software for this feature.

    Same problem here, on a PowerMac G4 running 10.5.5: HP Scan Pro works fine, but "START SCAN" and "Scan To" buttons on front of unit give error message "No Scan Options. You need to install or run HP software for this feature"


    Also, when trying to update scanning options from  HP Device Manager, it fails with error message "Error occurred error occurred while communicating with device."

    I am having the same problem - I went so far as to uninstall all HP software and re-install from the hp website. Still no luck. Anyone help???

    The same thing also happened to me. Here is how I fixed the problem. I downloaded this utility from HP (see below). I ran level5 removal I thing reinstalled the drivers from the CD (same version as on the website) make sure that you do not have the network cable plugged in or the usb cable and everything is back to normal.

    Same issue on iMac with latest versions of Mac OS-X.  Used to be able to start by pressing Scan buttons on the 7310.  No longer, now must open the Scan Pro application.

I can not get the HP software to work so in order for me to scan, i go to START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, SCANNER AND CAMERA WIZARD.

Its not a good as when my HP software worked but at least I can scan... Hope this is helpful.

I can scan using HP director by loading one page at a time on glass, but when I try to use the "scan to" button on the printer, it lets me select computer, then I choose save to a file and it comes back...


I had this problem and had to re-install the software. It might have been caused by installing a second HP printer, or perhaps from unplugging the printer to move it. Don't know.

When I use the HP Officejet 7310 All-in-One to scan, it only scans a fraction of document.


try uninstalling the driver and restart your system.Then re-install the driver as if like you are adding a new hardware to the pc.Run and test and it this time it fails then you have a fault on the hardware of the printer.

My program for Officejet 7310 all in one is installed but whenever I try to scan, I get a message that the software needs to be installed. What do I do?


Try going to Hp soltions for updated drivers. Also windows has it own scanning drivers. Try going to control panel and selecting scanner devices, and go through the installation wizard to install a scaning device, if your scanner is not listed then just click on install new device.

HP soln Center "Not Responding"


Try reinstalling the software,

first uninstall the software from add or remove programs or programs as it may be called in vista.

After the programs are uninstalled, you need to unplug the printer untill asked to plug back in during the install of the driver and software.
