Re: acer aspire 5600 shut down
It sounds like the video card cannot support or handle the pressure put on it by the game you are trying to play, if it is an OEM game have a look for the minium system requirements that the game will run on, you can also find this information on line, you will probably find out that the graphics card doesn't support the game, do this check with all games you try to play another thing is to upgrade your memory because some laptops don't have a devoted graphics card thus they are relient on the system memory

Sorry you are having troule. It sounds as if it is getting hot and protecting itself. Games are very cpu intensive and this causes heat. The cheap fix is an under cooler. This is a cooler the laptop sits on. I have seen them at Best Buy for under $20
Overheating could be the problem of continously shut down. Open your System and clean it with an air blower manily near the Processor part and remove the RAM and clean its legs with a white paper and place it again.
You either overloaded the processor or the available RAM. Also with these laptops and high end games...it is very easy to overheat them unless they are on a cooling pad with another external fan blowing cool air over them, without it they will shut down due to thermal overload....this is to keep them from melting something. Try checking with the support driver page for your laptop and see if there is a BIOS update that addresses the algorithym for fan speed, then pull the heat sink from the processor, clean everything up and apply a good thermal paste compound, then blow out all the airvents and make sure there are no restrictions.
the only way you can upgrade the graphics on a laptop is to purchase a graphics accelerator card that plugs in to the usb slot, its not an upgrade as such but it will allow you to play high res games on the laptop, there would have to be a memory upgrade to go with that also
Nvidia are doing some good laptop accelerators at the moment but they are expensive!!!
the problem is not your hard drive, if you are using vista then there are compatbility issues with certain programmes, if yoou are using XP all you need to do is download the latest codecs, this also goes for vista, try not to use XP programmes with vista because you will run into problems
A notebook can only shut down if the processor is getting HOT that is by itself. I can timagine its a virus because you said you formatted it?. You keep maintaining that it keepsshutting down. to me thats the CPU because its getting too HOT>
How to fix is to check to see if the fan is ok the one on top. Even when it glogs up the fan can always clear it ......may be a faulty fan check it...
